It’s here. My latest novel, FEEDERS, is out today! A weird, gruesome, hilarious story about a social media app that rewards only the most evil human behavior. Hope you’ll give it a shot. Grab yours wherever books are sold.

Watching World Cup visitors from around the world interacting with parts of America, from restaurants, gas stations, and even highways, has warmed my heart more than anything on social media in years. Hope all #WorldCup peeps have the best time here. 🙏 God Bless America. 🇺🇸

Aww yeah. Look what came in the mail. @MattFini - one of my favorite slashers now a novelization. I was such a fan of novelizations of movies when I was a kid. This will be a treat.

Saw an old interview with Stallone where he slights ROCKY IV for “too much montage” but he genuinely evolved that device into an art form. When he pulls the photo of Drago off the mirror b/c his greatest opponent is his own mind, it resonates more than any dialogue could ever.

Was fun to talk summer slasher movies with the Icons of Fright pod. We touched on my MADMAN novelization, delving into one of the challenges an author sometimes has to tackle while adapting an existing work… ironing out discrepancies between page and screen. Thanks to @RMBee for letting me hang on your channel. 🙏

SCARY MOVIE is hilarious. So many jokes it’s hard to recall everything that made me laugh. But I got plenty of those, and a genuinely clever conclusion, too. Great time at the movies.

Glad Quentin is a fellow HORIZON head.
In a new @SightSoundmag op-ed, Quentin Tarantino says modern cinema inspires “contempt” in him, and he would “rather read a book” than watch most new movies—except for ‘THE RIP’ and ‘HORIZON: AN AMERICAN SAGA’ — CHAPTER 1 and 2,’ which are great. tinyurl.com/2b7uth4v

EUPHORIA is a fantastic series all the way through. And for my money season 3 might’ve been its best. Love the whole cast, and was not at all expecting the finale’s turn of events. Turning a more fatalistic show into something life affirming and hopeful. Loved every minute of it.

If I look nervous in this picture it’s because I’m wondering how many more times I’m going to go out thrifting only to return with ultra specific, Matt-centric treasures. My jaw dropped when the shop guy nonchalantly said “I got a soundtrack in there done by Jimmy Page” to which I immediately asked, “wait, it’s not DEATH WISH II is it???” And then the very next stop resulted in me pulling GOLDFINGER out of a random box of “world music.” Once again, the milk crate gods saw fit to smile on Matt! And even though @DamnFoolCrusade turned me on to the incredible La La Land Bond scores, I still feel compelled to track down an original set… for the history.

I watched “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu”in IMAX. Back in 2019, I had only seen the opening of The “Mandalorian” while examining the LED-shot “virtual production” technology, but this time I had no problem diving in. Action, car chases, close-quarters combat, sword fights, gun battles, death matches, aerial combat, giant monsters, giant mechs. A complete “everything versus everything” showcase. CGI, puppets, special makeup, animatronics, stop motion. Even the behind-the-scenes craftsmanship feels like it has everything packed in. X-Wings, AT-ATs, AT-RTs, speeders, stormtroopers, droids. Nearly every element from across the entire history of the Star Wars saga is in as well. An entertainment spectacle made with craftsmanlike skill by Jon Favreau.

Loved THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU. I bet George does too because this feels like something he would’ve produced some time after the Ewok movies—a compliment! Between the puppets and the models and a legit great score, this adventure delivers. Mando rules and idc, I love that baby.

Remembering the great Sir Roger George Moore on the day he passed away in 2017. He played Bond with charm, wit and style.

There’s a new Bond game dropping soon, so I had to get my third Fleming article out the door today. My thoughts on MOONRAKER are up on Substack. 🔗⬇️ Also, this is my cat, Vesper. Nothing happens in this house without her involvement, as you can see.
