Since everyone and their mother is an artist these days, it makes derivative work even more meaningless. It all just takes up retail space like boxes of cereal on a grocery store shelf. Yet, in shameless pursuit of digital clout, artists are trying their hardest to be derivative.

Artist as hero is not a helpful narrative in this era. It makes far too many new artists feel like their choice to pursue creative work is in itself worthy of acknowledgment, or even praise. It inspires artistic mimicry, self aggrandizement, and work that is painfully generic

Regardless of the political dynamic, anytime humans choose to gather by the masses to protest or raise awareness (without sanction from the state), out come the riot police and rubber bullets. When push comes to shove, you are property, to be quelled and controlled as needed.

The Olympics are basically the Hunger Games without the murder. Absurd, extravagant pageantry and meaningless nationalist competition while the humans of this planet live in a violent dystopia.

The disintegration of the talent economy is part of this era. Human talent will mean less and less, and technology will fill the void. Whatever unique ability you have can be cloned by algorithms. Maybe AI generated creations are boring and robotic now, but soon they won’t be.

I don’t think living actual life will make sense to future generations. They are going to hand pick every single aspect of their individual metaverses, while their real bodies lay bed ridden in some condo the size of a closet.
