In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel. This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide. I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

I praised the huge economic benefits of the Elizabeth Line, and the long term approach to investment in our country’s infrastructure that laid the foundations for its success.

During a debate on rail infrastructure I raised disabled access to taxis at Reading Station, and asked for ministers to support efforts to improve the design of this area of the station. Many thanks to local taxi drivers for bringing this to my attentions.

It was an honour to attend the football tournament held in memory of Lewis Waters, who tragically died after contacting Meningitis B last month. It was a wonderful event and a true show of community support to Lewis’ parents Sean and Kate, his family, friends, and teammates.

I welcomed the Government's decisive action to tackle children sending and receiving sexually explicit images, and I asked the Minister to continue to work closely with families who have lost children and young people due to online harms.

His funeral was incredibly moving and there was an enormous amount of solidarity shown by people from across the Reading area and around the country who came to pay their respects and to show their support for his family and friends.

82 years ago, on the beaches of Normandy, brave British and Allied forces changed the course of history forever. We must never forget the service and sacrifice of those courageous men and women. Our debt to them can never be repaid.

I spoke about the benefits of coordinating our rail track and rolling stock, benefitting passengers but also easing congestion on the roads by encouraging more people to take the train.

I asked the Water Minister to outline what action the government is taking to improve compensation for households and businesses if they have their water cut off or have low pressure. In the past residents have had to wait too long before receiving compensation.

I strongly encourage cycling but I’m concerned about the dangerous use of e-bikes and e-scooters, particular when sharing spaces with pedestrians and breaking the speed limit. If you are concerned about this issue please complete my survey at: mattroddamp.com/escooters

I’m backing government action to tackle online harms and have written to the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology to raise both my own concerns and those of local residents. Thanks to BBC Radio Berkshire for covering this important issue.
