I’ve noticed a few people are convinced I only believe what I believe because I have never studied anything else. That would be a lot easier for them, I’m sure. But no. I’ve read outside my faith. I’ve studied Catholicism, Protestant Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and more. I’ve read arguments against my own beliefs. I’ve listened to former members, critics, apologists, scholars, ministers, priests, pastors, and people who think they have the silver bullet against Latter-day Saints. I did not stay because I was sheltered. I stayed because the Restoration answers questions other traditions could not answer for me with the same clarity, authority, and covenant power. I stayed because priesthood, temple ordinances, living prophets, continuing revelation, the Book of Mormon, and the doctrine of Jesus Christ do not weaken the Bible for me. They make the whole thing burn brighter. You can disagree with me. You can think I’m wrong. You can even spend your spare time monitoring my posts and pretending I’ve never opened a book. But do not confuse my conviction with ignorance. I have looked around. I still choose Jesus Christ. I still choose His restored gospel. I still choose this Church.

The funniest part of Book of Abraham discourse is watching people act like Latter-day Saints have never heard the argument before. We have. Some of us still read it and hear God.

People who are genuinely kind are not weak. They just learned somewhere along the way that cruelty is easy, bitterness is lazy, and softness takes real strength.

Spends years building a platform around attacking a faith he clearly doesn’t understand, and somehow we’re supposed to believe he’s the voice of discernment. Wild way to spend a ministry. You’ve made your master very proud, Korihor. I mean Todd.

This is the kind of quiet Latter-day Saint family goodness people should see more often. Faith, family, competence, courage, and a dad close enough to let his son grow without leaving him alone. Pretty awesome. #SaintsOnX

Christ is the greatest gift. The Bible testifies of Him. Grace comes through Him. Salvation is possible because of Him. Free is good. Redeemed is better.
The most valuable free gift.

The scriptures are basically one long record of God restoring truth after people lose it. So yes, multiple apostasies make the Restoration more necessary, not less. And Joseph Smith makes a whole lot more sense when you notice the pattern.

“We take up our crosses and follow Him, it would be tragic indeed if the weight of our challenges did not make us more empathetic for and more attentive to the burdens being carried by others. It is one of the most powerful paradoxes of the Crucifixion that the arms of the Savior were stretched wide open and then nailed there, unwittingly but accurately portraying that every man, woman, and child in the entire human family is not only welcome but invited into His redeeming, exalting embrace.” -Jeffrey R. Holland

The louder the seething gets, the more convinced I become that Joseph Smith was exactly who he said he was. People don’t spend nearly 200 years obsessing over a “fraud” unless he changed the world in a way they still can’t explain away. A farm boy prays once in the woods and generations later people are still writing books, making podcasts, building channels, and raging online trying to undo what came from it. And through all of it, the Book of Mormon just keeps changing lives. Bad men don’t produce good fruit for this long. So, seethe on.

When you pray, do you ask God to hasten the coming of His Son? Or do you ask Him to keep the world comfortable enough that you never have to think about it?

Joseph Smith translated an ancient record by the gift and power of God, restored Christ’s Church, brought forth priesthood keys, revealed temple ordinances, and sealed his testimony with his blood. But sure, tell me more about your three recycled questions.

I love Him because He is mercy when the world is cruel, truth when the world is confused, and hope when everything feels heavy. He is King. And I will never be ashamed of Him.

Turns out the donkey was the spiritual giant in the Balaam story. This week we asked our seminary students what the “unexpected donkeys” are in our lives — the things that feel annoying but might actually be protecting us. Don’t curse the guardrail! #saintsonx @ComeUntoChrist
