I'm not sure what you're deferring to in particular, but damn near every gay ive come across is extremely dishonest. Lots of liars in this "community". Sociopathic ones that start to believe their own lies and live in their fantasy worlds.

My Opinion on Lara's shorter braid is that it's associated with customization. For example, her underworld scuba gear has her in the ponytail. Her 2013 survivor outfit has her in the ponytail.
