Hi @GWRHelp - just thought I’d let you know that your service today has been absolutely pathetic. I’ve really enjoyed my compulsory sightseeing tour of all the stations on your West Coast/Wales mainline. Maybe I’ll be home by next Christmas?

No, I do not think the post-war confessional of Martin Niemöller about the silent complicity of the German intelligentsia and clergy in the Nazi rise to power is pertinent to a Smoking Bill that was in your manifesto and ours to tackle one of the biggest killers. Get a grip.
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out Because I was not a communist Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me Pertinent words re Starmer’s smoking ban

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday evening “at work”! It’s available to listen to/watch on BBC iplayer and BBC Sounds if you inexplicably missed us 😉
We're still absolutely buzzing from our concert at the @RoyalAlbertHall on Sunday night, part of the @bbcproms. Seems like audiences and press enjoyed it too:

Legend
Harmonielehre calls for about 100 players. So multiply by two, and that comes to 200 bloody socks. That's a lot of socks. Must have been quite a Prom concert. Very sorry to have missed it.

My parents always took us to this spot in the Lake District on holiday. Great to be back there with @GNev2 – to speak about my plans for the country.

EXCLUSIVE The chief Treasury civil servant wrote to Labour two days ago saying that the £38 billion/£2,000 tax attack “should not be presented as having been produced by the civil service” He said he had reminded ministers of this

I’m absolutely shocked by the #itvdebate format. It’s frankly insulting that anyone would think that a plan for some of the most complex issues can be explained in under 45 seconds. But anyway, here’s a few thoughts… 🧵

4) Too many topics By whizzing through every issue possible, ITV directly lowered the quality of the debate. There was no debate as such, more so a he said vs he said about vague talking points that no-one will remember this time next week…

5) Finally, nothing will change. As I previously mentioned, Sunak may have edged this debate, but that’s more down to the format imo. Starmer prefers long form, and against greater scrutiny Sunak’s soundbites could fall apart. 51/49 one week 49/51 the other. We move on.

This #itvdebate is atrocious. Basically Sunak ignores all the questions and accuses Starmer of ridiculous things and when Starmer tries to refute them Sunak shouts all over him and the host, Julie Etchingham is incapable of stopping him. Absolutely pointless.

Bogey free. His game is transformed since he left Harbour Town. Can’t be complaining. Should hopefully get the last group. He’s trending at a great time with 3 majors left and loads more. Bring on the weekend! 😍✅

If they go ahead with this, it will be unconscionable. Unconscionable. Not just preventing Brits from coming home with a foreign partner, but actively breaking up British families *who already live together in the country*. independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

I’ve been staring in disbelief at some of the goings on from the #ToryPartyConference this week. So much so that I’ve decided to put it all in once place for your (dis)pleasure… A thread 🧵⬇️

I hope this (if nothing else) has provided some clarity on an absolutely mad Tory conference which has kept many on the edge of our seats (not literally if you were in the room clearly). Thanks 😊 (share it around if you fancy..)
