A board of directors creating a strategic plan in isolation is a sure recipe for making a dust collecting binder. The current model many use for planning is broken. We need to shatter the artificial divides we have built around the process.

Reviewing several strategic plans today and one of the major problems in strategic planning is the process often doesn’t produce strategies, simply to do lists. Make sure process has a component about overall strategy, before setting key priorities.
