Productivity has more than doubled in the last 50 years so why have our working hours barely budged?Rethinking the future of work to prioritise leisure time over ever-growing consumption could be the key to unlocking a greener, low-carbon future. @oxfordgeography @ecioxford 1/2

This week the Morrison government appointed a bunch of ‘mates’ to key statutory positions. Much of the commentary has focused on nepotism - which is fair enough because it is pretty revolting. But I reckon this is just another step in a deliberate wrecking agenda 🧵: #auspol

Most people don't realise this, but the majority of high-income nations have already significantly exceeded their fair share of the carbon budget for 2 degrees. Their "zero by 2050" targets are therefore woefully inadequate.

China’s frantic efforts to decarbonise will result in many such instances of top-down planning overriding local traditions and identity. Fantastic piece by @oliverlees6

Why are all the spreading events occurring at Thai restaurants? I can only think of 2 potential explanations for this. 1. The novel coronavirus thrives on the fumes of chilli and coconut milk 2. 92% of Australian social activities take place in Thai restaurants
Coincidence? The locations for the first 2 #covid19nsw Avalon cases (16 Dec) include two Thai venues. And in Victoria, five days later (21 Dec) dinner at the Black Rock Thai resulted in 12 people from 5 different groups got #covid19vic.

This is what I was referring to last night in the linked thread. We need @VicGovDHHS to explain why some people aren’t at least getting a phone call to say ‘hey get tested’ when they HAVE ACCESS TO THE DETAILS. x.com/drvyom/status/13460484…

Anyone who says contact tracing is working in Victoria is just plain wrong. Of 10 people I know who attended Bodriggy Brewery at same time as infected person. Not one has been contacted or messaged by @VicGovDHHS about testing and isolating for rest of the week. Not one.

After seven years of Scott Morrison, Australian jobs and exports are more dependent on China than ever. In fact, Australia depends on the Chinese market more than any other country. And he still hasn’t delivered a plan to diversify our economy, help exporters and save jobs.
