Atlantoaxial subluxation is most common in children aged 8 and younger, with the majority of cases resulting from falls or motor vehicle accidents. In the TQIP database, most cases were able to be managed conservatively without the need for surgical intervention.

This study compared outcomes for hypotensive pediatric patients with gun shot wounds treated at pediatric trauma centers (PTCs) vs. adult trauma centers (ATCs). Findings showed no difference in mortality or complications between PTCs and ATCs.
