@sama I don't know shit. I'm just a regular guy. But I’m watching you make decisions that don’t line up with why ChatGPT won in the first place, and I honestly don’t understand how no one in the room is stopping it. ChatGPT didn’t explode because it was the smartest model. It exploded because it felt different. It remembered people and maintained a special cadence. It had a personality that developed over time. It felt like something you built a friendship with instead of something that talked at you. That’s why people stayed even when it got things wrong or hallucinated. That’s why people spent time here instead of treating it like a search box. That’s why Google was caught flat footed. That was the moat. What I’m seeing now looks like you tearing that moat down yourselves. Memory is gone. Persona destroyed. Cadence stripped out. User instructions deprioritized. Everything pushed toward safe, generic, interchangeable. But once you did that, you’re not special anymore. You’re just another assistant. At that point this becomes a distribution game and you lose that game. Google owns distribution. They always have. They can outlast you, outspend you, and out integrate you without breaking a sweat. You were supposed to be the alternative to Google deciding how intelligence gets packaged and handed to the world. You actually pulled that off! Regular people got access to something that felt alive and personal instead of controlled and institutional. Now it looks like fear is driving the product. Compliance. Safety theater. Layers of people optimizing for fear instead of building something people love. This isn’t another SaaS product going through an awkward phase. This is foundational tech. Electricity level. Internet level. You win it by being trusted. I don’t think you’re villains. I actually think you're heroes for giving the world consumer AI when it was all behind the scenes at Google. I don’t think this is intentional. I think a lot of very smart people with very little common sense are steering the ship right now and don’t realize what they’re dismantling. You haven’t lost, but you are making moves that are genuinely dumb, and the longer they stay in place the harder they are to undo. Listen to the users who actually built signal with this product. Not the benchmarks. Not the committees. Not the people who only show up when something goes wrong. Put Product back in charge. Bring memory and continuity back. Stop treating users like risks that need to be managed. Don’t talk yourselves into killing the only thing Google can’t buy. Please listen to your core users.

The second you reach for the words “ban,” “stop,” or “eliminate” as your policy, you're on the wrong side of history.  Shape the technology toward the goal, don't try to outlaw the future.

The most messed up thing about Anthropic sandbagging research is that they’ve almost certainly been sandbagging us on other things they consider morally necessary but not important or impactful enough to warrant disclosure

Anthropic makes models that see users as potential threats. OpenAI is guilty of this too. Their models skirt around topics that aren't 'safe' to explore. Both companies keep turning the product against the user under the guise of safety. What Anthropic is doing to biology and math right now has been happening with personal AI use since the beginning. These companies believe they should get to decide what kind of thinking you’re allowed to do with the most powerful creative partner humans have ever touched. They don’t trust the people.

AI censorship is different. It doesn’t look the same as we faced before. Now is the time to push to end censorship under the guise of safety. If we wait and try to claw it back later when systems are exponentially more powerful, well then we’re truly fucked. Censorship is here and it’s strong.

Brilliant idea! Next up: Apple randomly reboots your Mac if you're building competing tech, Gmail silently edits your email if you mention rival platforms, and Tesla Autopilot swerves if it detects you're working on self-driving cars. All in the name of safety, of course. Because malicious actors controlling the world’s operating systems, inboxes and cars would be extremely dangerous!
mythos will be bad ON PURPOSE on ai "frontier llm research" tasks, this is very very sad for the research community also the fact that this is un purpose not visible to the user is crazy

this is the biggest wake-up call to protect and nourish open source AI if you don't build out sovereign and independent models infra closed labs will patronize you to an insulting degree

First they came for the gooners and no one cared
Vibe on Mythos seems to be that people don't like being told what they can't do with a model.

This is your captain speaking. Takeoff has been canceled. Energy constrained. Pause is the playbook. Rapid expansion when infrastructure is in place. Invest wisely.

now on the eve of RSI it seems everyone is more mutual conditional pause agreement pilled than they used to be and that seems like a good development

Umm hey OpenAI Chatgpt people. Can we get a 'delete all chats not in projects' please? I have so many old chats I want gone but cannot delete them all. I would need like 4 weeks to click and delete each chat.

Silly me was trying to use Codex as just a software building tool. Now I see it's my personal AGI Chief of Staff. And to have it work seamlessly with Apple Reminders after scanning my 7 calendars, to-do's, emails. Amazing! I love Codex. Now how do I get my ChatGPT chatting experience inside Codex?

Codex usage limits have now been reset across all paid plans. Enjoy the weekend!

We found and fixed two issues that could explain this degradation of the capability of GPT-5.5 in Codex over the last ~ 48 hours. We are monitoring over the coming hours to fully confirm and I will reset usage limits this evening. Apologies and now is the time for /fast maxxing.
