Carlos Mendoza said Juan Soto’s home run was overturned in the ninth because “they didn’t see the ball leave the ballpark” in the review. I thought at first glance on the replay that the ball hit off Yastrzemski’s glove and ricocheted off the railing above the wall but now I’m not so sure. Mets had a chance there in the ninth. Down two. Winning run at the plate. Francisco Alvarez grounded into a game-ending double play. Alvarez took a first pitch strike over the plate. Then he swung at a sinker in at his hands and grounded it back to the pitcher. Tough customer on the mound in Iglesias to say the least and one AB at the end wasn’t the entire story today, but that’s reminiscent of the swing decision issues and at-bat quality conversation that keeps popping up all year for the Mets.

Two more hits already today for Bo Bichette, including a double and run scored here in the sixth. Bichette was hitting .210 with a .531 OPS on May 17. He's now batting .237 with a .646 OPS 24 games later. youtube.com/watch?v=FGIfuCXx…

Looks like the pitch from Sean Manaea that Eli White hit out to left in the fourth was supposed to be up and in. It leaked over the middle and White pounced on it. White's RBI double in the second was also over the plate. Those two pitches are the difference in this game so far.

Mark Vientos, Eric Wagaman and Vidal Brujan are all in the lineup for the Mets today against Braves lefty Martin Perez.

The Mets started off their big weekend series against the first-place Braves with a win, holding on 7-5. Bo Bichette went deep twice, including a grand slam in the second. He's showing more signs of breaking through (finally) at the plate. Juan Soto homered again as well. Mets flexing more slug over these last few days... Nolan McLean was doomed by poor command in a shaky second inning and New York's bullpen made this one interesting late, but Devin Williams finished it off with the save, his 10th.

Bo Bichette has raised his OPS on the season from .607 to .638 with two home runs in the first two innings tonight. This grand slam was huge after Nolan McLean’s shaky top of the second where the Braves tied the score 2-2.

McLean had already walked three batters in this inning. Can't believe Dubon swung at this pitch with the bases loaded in a three-ball count. Not only that, but look at the pitch before this that was called a strike at 3-0. Dubon stepped back while it crossed the plate and didn't challenge it.

That was a 42 pitch second inning for Nolan McLean. Two runs scored for the Braves (on three walks and two singles). McLean stranded the bases loaded with one out ... but got bailed out by leadoff hitter Mauricio Dubon who swung at ball four on a 3-1 pitch and popped out to first base.

Bo Bichette and Juan Soto just went back-to-back against Spencer Strider. The Mets have an early lead and Citi Field is buzzing.

Sure enough. Looks like the ship from Independence Day just pulled up overhead.

The Mets just announced that tonight’s game won’t start on time. No bad weather in sight right now, but storms must be on the way in the next hour…?
