There’s nothing like a man’s pride
Life is not fair
It’s something we have all heard at least once in our lives, but it’s the truth. You can do everything right and still fail. It’s the cruelest game of chance you will ever encounter.
But that’s why it’s up to us to preserve, adapt, and make the change ourselves
And that’s what these two men did
Two talented wrestlers
Involved in respected midcard programs, performed at a high level only to be pushed aside when someone more favored came along. Then they found themselves under masks, working a comedy gimmick to dead silence, with seemingly no way up
But what they did in response was special
They didn’t sulk. They didn’t try to walk out. They didn’t complain about the position they were in. They pushed to turn this seemingly filler comedy gimmick into the biggest feud in wrestling. They got the people of Mexico to buy into them and positioned themselves as the top heel and face of AAA
Two special wrestlers
Who once came out to dead noise under masks were now shaking the arena the moment they entered the room
Then, when it was time to deliver, they produced one of the best matches of the year. They made something so authentic and special that it felt like a separate entity from the company they wrestle in
It was emotional
It was chaotic
It was gritty
Professional wrestling in all its simplicity. And it was beautiful
Two masked men
Fueled by pride, made something out of nothing through sheer willpower. And when they both struggled to hold back tears, covered in blood, as the crowd showered them with love
Chad Gable,
You are a special professional wrestler
And I hope the suits upstairs finally realize that after tonight
El Grande Americano,
I will not call you by another name
Because this is who you are now
You worked hard to make it a name of honor rather than a name of mockery
And this summer, hopefully I can call you champion too
Congratulations on the fiver, boys 🍻
