Thank you to @MIRAMcMaster for hosting "preparing an aging world for emerging infectious threats". Listening to some of my heroes, @picardonhealth, @zchagla, and @chandri_mac speak was the most incredible return to in-person events.

Language and province of residence are independently associated with incident chronic cough. Geography, cultural factors, as well as equivalence of questionnaires in French and English need to be considered when studying chronic cough.

“It will be a very difficult January,” Dr. Kieran Moore said Thursday. “I hope and indeed pray that we will be able to provide care to all Ontarians if and when they need it.” Oh good. We've entered the "thoughts and prayers" stage of the pandemic. @fordnation

"Schools will be the last things to close and the first things to open". Sure @fordnation. I can get my hair and nails done but kids can't have a decent education. The switch to online learning coincides with closing the very essential movie theaters and sports arenas.

We should have been instituting new public health measures a month ago when the expert modeling clearly showed that cases and hospitalizations were going to skyrocket. I would personally give up anything to ensure that kids receive the education they deserve.

Kids, parents, and educators are burnt out and exhausted. Now you're asking these burnt out people to navigate (at least) two weeks of online learning, many of them while doing essential jobs. Counting down the days until the June election.

At this stage, it's unforgivable that our government still hasn't figured out that exponential growth is exponential, lagging indicators lag, beds are useless without HCWs & that a highly transmissible variant, even if less severe, can still overwhelm our healthcare system.

There are few things I dislike in research more than spending hours formatting a paper for a specific journal that I'm 95% confident will not pass my paper on to reviewers.

Today is #December6 the National Day Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women. On December 6, 1989, 13 women who were engineering students and 1 woman who was an administrator at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal were murdered in an act of misogynist anti-feminist violence.

I don't know if I'm more excited about the wearable technology or the gait analysis!

Thank you to Andrea Gonzalez and her team for this vital research showing the continued mental health impact of the pandemic on parents. In Spring 2021, 69% of parents completing the Ontario Parent Survey reported depressive symptoms in the past week. torontosun.com/news/provinci…

We had comments that the story on #Unvaccinated patients with severe #COVID in ICU was "fake" and shot "in a studio" with "mannequins". We are posting additional raw material to counter misinformation ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=2283… @CTVNews @HamHealthSci

Obesity is more than BMI, waist circumference, and percent body fat. Congratulations to @Andreacchi_A, @AndersonLauraN, and the rest of the team on their analyses identifying six different classes of adults based on obesity-related characteristics. authors.elsevier.com/c/1dTZ9…

Canada needs to jump-start a stalled first-dose campaign to avoid a fourth wave, experts say. With more virulent variants in circulation, vaccination numbers need to be higher than originally forecast, by @JPTasker cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-… via @cbcnews #COVID19 #vaccination
