With over 40 vendors, hundreds of attendees, and countless connections made, Shelby County Government’s first-ever Mental Health Town Hall was a tremendous success. This event brought together community organizations, mental health professionals, advocates, and residents to share resources, raise awareness, and create meaningful conversations around mental wellness. Together, we're building a stronger, more informed, and more connected community.

This continued commitment reflects our administration’s focus on strengthening public safety, supporting first responders, and keeping Shelby County’s #FutureInMotion.

Shelby County A to Z has a new home in the heart of Downtown Memphis. This summer, families can stroll near the Tom Lee Park playground and enjoy an interactive experience that celebrates literacy while highlighting landmarks throughout Shelby County. This project has been an ongoing effort by the Shelby County Nonprofit Committee to support our early readers.

It was great to kick off the Summer Camp Pastor’s Breakfast where leaders partner to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. Commissioner Brooks has spent decades focused on taking care of our children and their futures and we’re proud to continue to support her enrichment program.

As part of AAPI Heritage Month, the Mayor’s healthyShelby initiative provided a nutritious vegan lunch for county commissioners and attendees following a recent committee meeting. According to the CDC, a plant-based diet can reduce the risk of heart disease by up to 40 percent. We’d also like to thank Lumpia Nation for preparing the delicious cuisine.

Today we honor those who gave the greatest sacrifice for democracy and all that we hold dear in the United States. Thank you to those who served and the families that sacrificed. #MemorialDay

We recognize the Governor’s five appointees as dedicated members of our Memphis community. But recognition is not the same as representation. Under the MSCS takeover law, every member of this appointed board can be removed by state officials at any time, for any reason. Memphis deserves a board that answers to Memphis, not Nashville. #SaveOurSchools

Healthcare access is becoming increasingly out of reach for too many families across TN. We are responding with action. In this year’s budget, we are proposing a new program, we’re calling TempCare, so our temporary workers and their families can access affordable primary care coverage. Investing in healthier families means investing in Shelby County’s future. #FutureInMotion

District Attorney Steve Mulroy was fairly elected by the residents of Shelby County. Once again, the state is trying to take away the voices of the people of Shelby County and who they elected to represent them. Tonight, residents are geared up to show their support to DA Mulroy and the democratic process. Join if you can.

We’re increasing our investment in indigent care to cover those without insurance. Our FY27 investment is set at $29.4 million, an increase of nearly $5.5 million from last year. We are committed to ensuring families across Shelby County have access to healthcare regardless of income. #FutureInMotion

Investing millions of new dollars this year in new school construction helps our schools in the suburban municipalities. My administration has always been committed to investing in students, no matter where they live in Shelby County. Every student deserves to learn in classrooms where the heat works, where the roof doesn’t leak, and where the windows are not painted shut. The proposed initial investment to build a new Treadwell translates into millions more for suburban districts.

Finally, we continue to take strides in taking care of our employees, as they confront high gas prices and an affordability crisis across the U.S. I previously brought the largest across the board raise in Shelby County Government history, then also passed $40,000 minimum wage for employees. This year, I’m proposing to give employees a 1% across-the-board raise, building on earlier wage increases.
