Starting in 1946 Hodgkin & Huxley did their work on nerve transmission in Plymouth - on the Hoe. Because giant axon of the squid is largest nerve (1mm diameter) and you can't get squid in Cambridge.

PhD student @Marinebioyaz also used blue and white E.coli cells to create this snowman and Christmas tree! We loved the movement created in the snow and the windswept scarf...who knew how beautiful bacteria could be?! @thembauk
