Her Excellency, the British High Commissioner for Uganda @LisaJChesney congratulates the achievements of METGE for our efforts to distribute 25 million trees. Thank you ! @sizeofwales@UKinUganda
For farmers with limited land, choosing the right tree species is critical. One tree that has proven its value across the Mount Elgon region is Grevillea(Grevillea robusta). Grevillea has become a preferred choice for farmers seeking to improve their livelihoods. @sizeofwales
Unlike many tree species that compete heavily with crops for sunlight, water, and nutrients, Grevillea has a relatively open canopy and deep root system. This allows farmers to grow crops such as coffee, beans, bananas, and maize alongside the trees.
Grevillea provides multiple benefits. Farmers can harvest timber for construction, furniture, and sale, creating an additional source of income. The trees also serve as windbreaks and reduce soil erosion.
