I think the average investor and builder happily suffers through poor management or bad policy or really all manner of errors, because the intent is good and the system is complex and good things take time. But if one of the chain's founding entities with a massive share of capital and actual veto-sized voting power gets parasitized by unknown participants, and then proceeds to pursue dubious goals that alienate most of the user base - that simply changes the nature of the thing in which you are participating. And its not better than the meme casino chains - Its worse because the expectation was somewhat higher. Those are things likely not fixed anytime soon if ever. Its also a problem way upstream that has nothing to do with NFT projects or games or defi - at all.
