He clearly wants to be saved, wants someone to care about him genunely and to mean it and not use kindness as a mainulation tactic against him, and to care for someone genuinely, but he is so, SO scared of getting hurt again and of losing someone he cares about again, and was most likely told growing up to "man up" and to not show weakness and asking for help was probably seen as weakness. So he doesn't know how to properly ask for help or express his feelings in a healthy way and lashes out/runs away. There is proof of this in the way that he years for genuine kindness and authenticity, not forced positivity like Ragatha who he sees as fake and manipulative, and is constantly seeking Pomni out because she IS genuine. She doesn't mask her true self or weaponizes her kindness. He feels safe and secure around her. Also, in episode 9, the Jax that was chained down and forced to play the piano who gave her the key to the door was the part of Jax that wanted to open up and be saved.

as someone who hasn’t watched evangelion or its endings but recognise tadc takes inspiration from it, i saw someome say if abstractions were reversible and Jax were the one to prove it that’d align with the show and i want someone to fact check that pls bc i just read this
