Ben Meiselas breaks down a MeidasTouch Network exclusive on the safety hazards posed by the UFC structure on the White House lawn. A pilot described the lighting as 10 times worse than any laser illumination event they had ever experienced — overwhelming their vision on approach. "This incident did not involve lasers," the pilot emphasized. "It involved powerful white event lighting that created a similar and potentially more dangerous effect."

Paikin: [Former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien] said we should give the highest civilian honor that this country has, namely the Order of Canada, to Donald Trump because he's done such a great job unifying Canadians against him and against the rapacious appetite of the United States right now. What do you think of that idea? Angus: Well, I certainly wouldn't give anything to Donald Trump except maybe an indictment to go to The Hague.

Charlie Angus: It's been amazing since we started the MeidasCanada Network. Nobody ever really noticed anybody from Canada, unless we were Neil Young or Mike Myers. But I think there's a real searching right now as we are in such uncertain times and people are watching Canada and people are listening to what's happening. So the MeidasCanada viewership has developed a strong hold around the world. What we're trying to do is build that conversation — a conversation across borders, across the United States, across Europe, across Asia — about democracy. And Canada, I think right now, plays a role in it in a very significant way.

Ben Meiselas unpacks Donald Trump's secret $3 billion payout to Iran that took place "before there was even this current concept of a framework." "The United Arab Emirates has agreed as part of this Trump-Iran framework that's being formed to release billions of dollars to Iran as part of a deal to reduce bilateral tensions and assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz." "It could be as much as $20 billion. $3 billion dollars has already been given to Iran, confirming rumours from earlier this week."

"It is so fucking obvious that it was and continues to be in real time a cover-up. Because if you didn't do anything wrong, Donald Trump, if you didn't commit crimes, Donald Trump, then why are people scrambling to protect your ass?" Katie Phang reacts to the NY Times' bombshell reporting on the Epstein files.

Jordy Meiselas: Trump just continues to talk about the stock market in these meetings, where he's like, "The stock market's up again." Something like the wealthiest 10% of American households hold roughly 93% of the US stock market. He's just spitting in the face of the average American. Brett Meiselas: It's revealing that he talks about being close to a deal, and in the next breath his comment is always "and the stock market's going up, oil's coming down" — he always ties the two together, which I think shows the real reasoning behind these comments.

Brett Meiselas: [Donald Trump] has his propaganda that he wants to push, and the IRGC and the Iranian regime, they have things that they want to push to their people. And so you get these maximalist statements on both sides, oftentimes neither of which line up with the truth. But I do have to say, more times than not, the Iranian story has been far closer to the truth than what we're hearing with our own government here in the United States. That is something that is deeply troubling to me. That's something that takes a lot of getting used to.

Trump threatened to bomb Iran, then claimed a deal. Iran said no deal. Plus, the U.S. got a brutal inflation report. And markets didn't care. All this and more on tonight's MeidasTouch Podcast live at 8p ET/5p PT! youtube.com/live/NUBuh6aqGGE…

Meiselas: We need to really reevaluate and reflect on what the hell is happening with Israel. We have to all acknowledge the genocide taking place in Palestine right now. We have to all work to make sure that it is American policy to stop this genocide. And it should be disqualifying for anybody who doesn't call it a genocide and who doesn't work to end the genocide and who doesn't work for a Palestinian state.

Meiselas: Here's my long-term fear in all of this: what happens to the next president and the president after that when the world has already formed and is forming all of these new multinational structures that exclude the US. Whoever it is, they could say and do all the right things, at least for the foreseeable next several decades. Canada, Europe, Asia, they're all going to see the US as not reliable.

Ben Meiselas on Donald Trump's motivations for starting the Iran war: He went into this war, in my view and I think it's your view too, to cover up the Epstein files because Netanyahu, I think, was holding it over his head. And also, I think he thought it was gonna be easy, as a way to make more money.

Meiselas: When you have these dips of 5-7% in either direction, I want you to think about [Donald Trump] personally losing massive amounts of money. And he mentioned that today. He mentioned the stock market as a reason for the deal [with Iran]. You're starting to see why everything he's doing is from a position of personal panic versus actually focused on this country.

Meiselas: The American people right now are the casualties of all of this. Donald Trump, this past week, said he loves inflation—loves it. It's a great thing he said, loves inflation. The American people don't love inflation.
