Jordy Meiselas: Trump just continues to talk about the stock market in these meetings, where he's like, "The stock market's up again." Something like the wealthiest 10% of American households hold roughly 93% of the US stock market. He's just spitting in the face of the average American.
Brett Meiselas: It's revealing that he talks about being close to a deal, and in the next breath his comment is always "and the stock market's going up, oil's coming down" — he always ties the two together, which I think shows the real reasoning behind these comments.

Brett Meiselas: [Donald Trump] has his propaganda that he wants to push, and the IRGC and the Iranian regime, they have things that they want to push to their people. And so you get these maximalist statements on both sides, oftentimes neither of which line up with the truth.
But I do have to say, more times than not, the Iranian story has been far closer to the truth than what we're hearing with our own government here in the United States.
That is something that is deeply troubling to me. That's something that takes a lot of getting used to.

Meiselas: We need to really reevaluate and reflect on what the hell is happening with Israel.
We have to all acknowledge the genocide taking place in Palestine right now. We have to all work to make sure that it is American policy to stop this genocide.
And it should be disqualifying for anybody who doesn't call it a genocide and who doesn't work to end the genocide and who doesn't work for a Palestinian state.

Meiselas: Here's my long-term fear in all of this: what happens to the next president and the president after that when the world has already formed and is forming all of these new multinational structures that exclude the US.
Whoever it is, they could say and do all the right things, at least for the foreseeable next several decades. Canada, Europe, Asia, they're all going to see the US as not reliable.
