DAY 2 // NFC LISBON @NFCsummit 🇵🇹 A full day of conversations around art, culture, and permanence. Today, our cofounder and chief curator @Yaraspucia_ spoke about preserving art and culture on Bitcoin, why permanence matters, and how it changes the way we think about digital work over time. @SergeSats and @CyberSeaNFT continued that conversation through the lens of Bitcoin art, exploring authorship, permanence, and what it means to create within systems designed to last. There’s a growing sense that the foundations of a lasting Bitcoin art movement are starting to take shape in real time.

On-chain generative art is picking up again. Minted the Mosaic by @BitArt21. The size of each Mosaic piece (in pixels) is determined by the amount of sats (BTC) the minter sends, and the seeds of the art are the specific sat numbers in the mint transaction. Two mints with different amounts of sats, and the distribution of sats sent so far in the 224 mints.

GM 🟧⛓️ Are NFTs a SCAM⁉️ Most images are NOT stored on the blockchain but are actually stored OFF-CHAIN on a server or IPFS, and tokens (NFTs) with links to images (or other digital media) are often stored on PRIVATE networks❗️ 🚨 This means that there are two major points of failure: ⬇️ 1️⃣ The place that stores images (or other digital asets) could shut down at any moment and instead of an NFT people are left with error page 2️⃣ Company that launched private blockchain that stores tokens (links to images and other digital assets) goes out of business or pivots and decides to shut down their network causing you to lose access to your tokens that hold links to images (or other types of digital assets) ———————————————— 👀 What’s the solution?! ———————————————— ❗️ You need to make sure that images (or other types of digital assets) are actually stored directly on a decentralized blockchain ‼️ This is why all roads lead to BITCOIN and ORDINALS 🟧 ⛓️ Ordinals, unlike NFTs, store all images (or other forms of digital assets) directly on Bitcoin blockchain - the most decentralized blockchain out there. Because of this, artwork is secure, no one can remove it and there are no links to outside storage servers or IPFS’ I’m pretty sure that people who launch random pump and dump NFT collections don’t care about it, because their only goal is to make some profit and move on.
