I love the effort our pupils put into their class Reading Scrapbooks. The reading-related conversations they lead to are fantastic, with lots of intertextual links, peer recommendations and debate about favourite characters.

Taskmaster in year 6 was amazing today and in 12 years of teaching I can barely think of a moment Iโve laughed harder than when the kids had to get the strangest thing they could from any member of staff and one of them produced a zip lock bag filled with blackcurrant juice.

This is certainly true for me. Mostly, it is people disparaging the work, โwhy not teach something more complex like high school or college?โ
Primary education is serious, thoughtful, engaging and important work.
Itโs also silly and fun and fills me with joy.

I started about 20 years ago too & had some awful comments from people being โfunnyโ - it really hurt at the time as you shouldnโt have to defend your job choice from the start. I was a bit shocked.I went from being the only male in my school & that really changed over the years
