MSII filtering can be applied to #RTI/
#PTM datasets when converted to 3D. Great cooperation with LDA Sachsen-Anhalt and @Fraunhofer_IFF creating a curvature based 2D/3D benchmark dataset. ๐๐๐

Currently experimenting with a glTF export function. Interestingly this format is not very efficient as files are three(!) times larger than ASCII PLYs or OBJs. Not very well suited for long term storage and archival #FDM #researchdatamanagement #3D @nfdi4objects @nfdi4culture

Reason seems to be a compute time optimization for fast rendering. This will also cause issues for import capabilities and tasks like (re)editing #3D #annotations.

Eine neue KI kann schwer zu lesende Texte auf Keilschrifttafeln entschlรผsseln. Entwickelt wurde sie von einem Team der MLU, der Hochschule Mainz & der @uni_mainz. Die KI nutzt statt Fotos 3D-Modelle der Tafeln & liefert deutlich zuverlรคssigere Ergebnisse. mlu.de/f21my

New types of #3D objects sometimes require new methods as presented in the @CAA2023 pre-print. These are existing outside of GigaMesh for now. However, looking carefully at GM's changelog one will notice the automatic orientation option, which works best on #lithic tools ๐๐
