At Bio-IT World, Metaphore’s Adam Kraut will share how we are building the data architecture behind function-first antibody design, connecting cloud-orchestrated labs, high-throughput functional and multi-omic datasets, and governed cloud infrastructure to support AI/ML and antibody design at scale. Metaphore’s platform starts with measuring function in living systems, generating biological activity data, learning the features that drive function, and designing antibodies with new mechanisms from the outset. That is the next frontier for antibody-based medicines: designing them to activate, bias, and combine biology with intent. Metaphore was at PEGS Boston, where our team shared new work at the intersection of antibody engineering, functional data generation, and mechanism design. Today, most antibodies are built to block biology. Metaphore is designing antibodies for new actions, including activating, tuning, and combining, to create functional antibodies with expanded capabilities from the start. Across our posters, we highlighted how this approach comes to life through high-throughput experimental workflows, multi-target antibody discovery, iterative ML-guided design, and library-scale affinity measurement. We’re excited that Metaphore will host a fellow under A*STAR’s International Fellowship (Innovation) program as part of the broader collaboration between @astar_research and @FlagshipPioneer. At Metaphore, we are building antibody medicines from a different starting point: biological function as it happens in living systems. By combining large-scale live-cell experimentation and machine learning, we are creating a function-first approach to antibody design that moves beyond blocking, and toward medicines that can activate, bias, modulate, and coordinate biology. This could open entirely new categories of antibody-based medicines, expanding one of pharma’s most important drug classes into diseases and mechanisms that conventional approaches have struggled to reach. The role, Chief of Staff to Metaphore’s Chief Scientific Officer offers a postdoctoral fellow the opportunity to work close to the science, strategy, and company building behind this new frontier in antibody medicine. Metaphore is presenting at the 5th Annual GPCRs-Targeted Drug Discovery Summit in Boston, highlighting a new frontier in GPCR antibody discovery: engineering agonism. GPCRs are central to human biology, but have historically been difficult to drug with antibodies because function depends on dynamic receptor states, signaling context, and more than binding alone. Metaphore’s function-first platform is built to design biologics around what they do in living systems. This presentation will highlight how this approach can be applied to GPCRs, including state-specific conformations, antibody-based agonism, signaling bias, and full-molecule engineering for PK, delivery, and developability.

Metaphore CEO Angela Hwang joined BMO’s 2026 Metabolic Health Summit in New York for a panel on emerging technologies shaping the future of metabolic health. Angela shared Metaphore’s perspective on designing medicines around biological function, not just binding, and how that results in highly differentiated antibodies that can raise the standard of care in metabolic disease. That means applying our function-first platform to create biologics intended to activate, bias, and modulate biology in ways conventional approaches often cannot. Thank you to BMO Capital Markets for convening leaders across biotech, healthcare, and investment to discuss the evolving obesity landscape and its growing relevance across broader cardiometabolic disease.

Please join us in welcoming Paul Weinreb, Senior Vice President, Biotherapeutics & Enabling Technologies, and Tiffany Chen, Vice President, Head of Operations & Portfolio Strategy, to Metaphore Biotechnologies. Paul brings decades of experience across biologics discovery, molecular engineering, and therapeutic development. Tiffany adds a strong track record in portfolio planning, cross-functional leadership, and operational execution across biotech R&D. Metaphore is advancing a new approach to antibody drug design, bringing together large-scale live-cell experimentation and machine learning to create medicines shaped by biological function. As the company continues to grow, Paul and Tiffany will play important roles in strengthening our platform, portfolio, and path forward. Welcome, Paul and Tiffany!

This International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we asked our Chief Scientific Officer, Anabella Villalobos for her advice to those building a career in science. Over her 30-year career, Anabella has built a reputation for developing innovative therapeutics across modalities and disease areas, while bringing out the best in people and building strong, collaborative teams. At Metaphore, she helps shape a scientific culture where people are encouraged to speak up, challenge ideas, and contribute fully. Here are three pieces of advice she shared with us for #IDWGS: 1. Raise your hand and be ready to tell your story. 2. Ask for what you want. 3. Seek out mentors and sponsors who will advocate for you. #WomenInScience #WomenInSTEM

Taking a brief detour from winter and lab coats. 🌴☀️ A welcome break from the cold, Metaphore’s Hawaiian-themed happy hour was a reminder that good science also needs good company, and occasionally a little sunshine (even if it’s just vibes).

What if antibody design started with how biology functions in living systems, not static structure? In this CEO Chat at the @FlagshipPioneer studio at the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference, Angela Hwang walks through why static, structure-first approaches miss critical biological context and how Metaphore captures protein behavior in living systems to design antibodies that activate, tune signaling, and engage multiple targets. This shift to function-first antibodies defines the next frontier in biologics. This moment in science demands more than incremental progress. @NoubarAfeyan’s 2026 @FlagshipPioneer Annual Letter calls on our industry to protect the conditions that allow real leaps to happen and to question the assumptions that quietly limit what medicines can become. We are at an inflection point in biologics. More than 95% of antibodies are designed to block biology, even though most biological systems are driven by activation, signaling, and coordinated function. By continuing to optimize the same approaches, we leave enormous therapeutic potential on the table and accept limits patients cannot afford. One #MiracleInTheMaking at #FlagshipFounded Metaphore is rethinking antibody design from the ground up, starting with how biology actually behaves in living systems and designing medicines around function, not static snapshots. This shift is about unlocking new classes of biologics and taking the bigger leaps required to bring better medicines to patients who urgently need them. #FlagshipFounded #JPM26 #MiraclesInTheMaking #BiggerLeaps
A future of progress depends on the choices we make today. In his 2026 Annual Letter, Flagship’s Founder & CEO @NoubarAfeyan argues that at the very moment science is capable of delivering unprecedented breakthroughs, we are undermining the process that makes those miracles possible. The letter makes the case that progress is a choice, and by defending the scientific method, we can create a future defined by discovery, health, and prosperity.  #MiraclesInTheMaking #JPM26 Full letter here: flagshippioneering.com/choos…

Most antibody drugs are designed to block biological pathways. That paradigm has been incredibly successful, but it is also reaching its limits. This Sunday at @LongwoodLeaders in San Francisco, Metaphore CEO Angela Hwang will discuss what comes next when antibodies can do more and drive function rather than just block activity. See the agenda here: longwoodhealthcareleaders.co… #LongwoodHealthcareLeaders #SanFranciscoCEO #JPM26 #JPMHealthcare #JPMWeek #FlagshipJPM
