For "The Simpsons" fans, you'll be happy to know the inanimate carbon rod is heading back to space. IN ROD WE TRUST. Don't know what I'm talking about? Watch The Simpsons Deep Space Homer (Season 5, Episode 15).
That strong wind you may have felt at 8:07pm ET was the collective exhaling by the @NASA and partner teams following a successful splashdown of the Orion spacecraft upon its return to Earth following an amazing trip around the moon. The best is yet to come...
Behind the four astronauts of Artemis II are hundreds of people tracking their every move: monitoring spacecraft systems, evaluating crew safety, and staying in constant communication. Let’s hear it for the team in Mission Control responsible for getting the astronauts around the Moon and safely home.

Record Setting Day! The Artemis II crew just set the record for the farthest distance from Earth traveled by a human mission, surpassing the Apollo 13 record of 248,655 miles set in 1970.
"Welcome to my old neighborhood." Our @NASAArtemis II astronauts woke up on the sixth day of their mission to a special message recorded in 2025 by astronaut Jim Lovell, the pilot of Apollo 8.
Could the last 26hrs have been more exciting? The #ArtemisII crew is now officially on their way to the moon after the successful completion of the Translunar Injection (TLI) burn. Awesome experience for those of us working and the world watching. Let's Go!
Two @NASA astronauts are performing a spacewalk today with the primary task of completing preparatory work for the installation of a future solar array upgrade on @Space_Station. Awesome view of astronauts Jessica Meir and Chris Williams.
Yesterday marked the 100th Anniversary of Robert Goddard launching the world’s first liquid-propellant rocket. Here's a nice feature by @airandspaceairandspace.si.edu/stories/e…
NASA is sharing the following information at the request of NASA astronaut Mike Fincke:
ALT A graphic shows a written statement from NASA astronaut Mike Fincke: “On Jan. 7, while aboard the International Space Station, I experienced a medical event that required immediate attention from my incredible crewmates. Thanks to their quick response and the guidance of our NASA flight surgeons, my status quickly stabilized.
After further evaluation, NASA determined the safest course was an early return for Crew-11 — not an emergency, but a carefully coordinated plan to be able to take advantage of advanced medical imaging not available on the space station. On Jan. 15, we splashed down off the coast of San Diego after an amazing five-and-a-half-month mission. I am deeply grateful to my fellow Expedition 74 members — Zena Cardman, Kimiya Yui, Oleg Platonov, Chris Williams, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, and Sergei Mikayev — as well as the entire NASA team, SpaceX, and the medical professionals at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla near San Diego."
After overnight data showed an interruption in helium flow in the SLS interim cryogenic propulsion stage, teams are troubleshooting and preparing for a likely rollback of Artemis II to the VAB at @NASAKennedy. This will almost assuredly impact the March launch window. @NASA will continue to provide updates as they become available.
SpaceX-Crew12 Dragon flying around @Space_Station with an anticipated docking ~3:12pm ET to the Harmony Module Zenith Port. Nice approach visuals from Dragon camera.
