On Saturday, August 22nd, spend the day at the McMichael for Flight of the Monarch Day, a festival celebrating the beauty and importance of the monarch butterfly to our biosphere!
After reading โThe Wish Treeโ we talked about Birch trees (which I happen to have in my class because they are my favourite) we looked at the lines on the bark and then we made a beautiful watercolour picture of them using masking tape and sharpie markers ๐ฒ
We are going to make apple sauce in the crock pot tomorrow, but before we do- we are comparing the different kinds of apples and learning their names ๐๐ #authenticlearning
Making learning visible is so rewarding, especially for children who get the opportunity to remind themselves how far theyโve come in their learning journey!
They often ask me if they can look at their binders. Today I listened carefully to their reflections and discussions they had about their learning. They spent an entire hour looking at their work! โค๏ธ
Subitizing! In such a fun way by rolling the dice and recording what they number saw. They then totalled up the score to see who got the most points ๐ฒ This game was all child directed with minimal teacher support #rollandrecord
This is such a nice way to start off the year. The children get to know each other better by pointing out the family members they have drawn in their pictures โค๏ธ
