On today’s episode of medical myth. Waiting 24 hours to check PCV post transfusion is a myth and based on vibes 😄. Evidence shows that 4 hours is enough to get an accurate result

Very dangerous! Gynae emergency from 8am to 4pm, then start my call from 4pm to 8am and then resume G/E from 8am to 4pm AGAIN! 32 hours of non-stop work. Who even normalized this insanity?
I don’t know how we normalized this, but it isn’t normal to me. Worked from 8am yesterday to 3am this morning, got 3 hours of sleep, and I’m expected to run a full clinic till 4pm today. This profession is dangerous.

Eventually didn’t finish until 6pm. It’s funny how the system that is responsible for health, is the one that institutes the most unhealthy working conditions.

I also dislike it when people say “you’re getting call duty allowance”. Okay, can the government hold their 10k/month and return my sanity?

The things I saw in Paediatrics. Nigerian are more intentional about what they wear, than who they allow to take charge of their health.
The TBA woman who rushed a desaturating neonate she mismanaged to my centre by 3am, asked me that can she use cooking gas as oxygen source in case she has another similar case. I’ve never been more dumbfounded. This is someone pregnant women trust with their lives.

Excellence deserves recognition. I hope OOU rightly honors Dr. Ettu as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the University at the upcoming Convocation, in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements.
