With summer in full swing, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue is reminding our community to stay safe at the beach. To help raise awareness about rip currents, #MDFR hosted a demonstration highlighting the dangers they pose and the steps beachgoers can take to escape a rip current and stay safe in the water. Yesterday, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Community Affairs team provided a fire truck demonstration for students at Miami Norland Senior High School in Miami Gardens. The team shared essential fire safety information, including the importance of installing, testing, and replacing smoke alarms. On June 10, at approximately 8:53 p.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a First Alarm junkyard fire near the 2300 block of Ali Baba Avenue. Units arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a junkyard. Firefighters established water supplies and began a fire attack from multiple angles, including the use of aerial ladders to combat the fire from above. Firefighting efforts included the deployment of multiple hose lines, aerial apparatus, and foam operations to contain the fire and prevent further extension to surrounding properties. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and remained on scene to monitor and address hotspots. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Today, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Community Affairs team provided a special visit for students at KinderCare in Miami Lakes. The team provided an interactive learning experience for the students, proividng the chance to explore a fire engine, handle firefighting gear, and use a fire hose.

On Tuesday, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Community Affairs team visited RCMA South Dade Child Development Center in Homestead for a truck demonstration. During the visit, students had the opportunity to see a fire truck and firefighting equipment up close while learning how firefighters keep our community safe.

On May 30, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Community Affairs team provided a Fire Safety Prevention Presentation in the City of North Miami. Community members received fire extinguisher training, home fire safety education, and smoke alarm installation demonstrations using smoke alarms provided by the City of North Miami. #MDFR reminds our community that smoke alarms save lives. Make sure to install smoke alarms in your home, test them once a month, and replace them every 10 years or according to the manufacturer's instructions.

By engaging with our team, the children learned about the role firefighters play in keeping our community safe.

Today, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Jesus Fuentes reunited with Tyler Nelson and his family, just two weeks after helping save the 5-year-old following a near-drowning incident in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. On May 24, while off duty and spending time with family, #MDFR Lt. Fuentes assisted @browardsheriff Fire Rescue FF/Paramedic Broderick Espinoza and two nurses after Tyler was pulled from a pool without a pulse. Their immediate actions helped Tyler regain a pulse before responding crews arrived. Today's reunion provided an opportunity for Tyler's family to thank those who helped during the emergency and to celebrate his recovery.

This morning, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue joined Florida Chief Financial Officer @GovGoneWild at the #MDFR Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Florida Task Force 1 (FL-TF1) Training Site in Miami for a hurricane preparedness press conference. Joined by @MDFRChief Ray Jadallah, @MiamiDadeEM Assistant Director Jesse Spearo, @MiamiDade_SO @Sheriff_Rosie and State Representative @OmarBlancoFL, CFO Ingoglia emphasized the importance of preparing before a storm by reviewing insurance coverage, protecting important documents, securing homes and properties, and having a plan in place. MDFR's USAR team plays a critical role in disaster response and recovery efforts. Specially trained personnel provide search and rescue operations, disaster communications, medical support, damage assessments, and coordination of relief supply distribution following major emergencies and natural disasters.

On June 2, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to reports of a residential structure fire near the 1800 block and Southwest 82nd Court. Crews found a working fire with heavy smoke and flames visible from the rear-right corner of a one-story single-family residence. Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack, conducted a primary search, and secured utilities. The main body of the fire was located in the patio area. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and ventilate the home. All occupants were out of the home prior to firefighters’ arrival, and there were no reported injuries. Today, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Tanker 71 officially transferred operations to Temporary Fire Station 71. Located at 15430 Southwest 184th Street, Temporary Fire Station 71 has been designed as a durable, long-term solution that allows #MDFR to expand services in growing areas while permanent stations are planned and constructed. Built to meet the demands of a modern fire station, the facility includes many of the essential features of a permanent station on a smaller scale, providing a safe and efficient workspace for personnel. Tanker 71 will respond to emergencies in the Redland area and surrounding communities.
