The latest campaign treasurer's reports are starting to post. They're due by the 10th & will post more frequently through the general. If you are in a position to do so, please financially support my campaign finance research so I can stay on top of it! linktr.ee/daniriveramiami
🧵1/3 Here's the updated contributions from GL Homes to the @MiamiDadeBCC & @MayorDaniella. 252 contributions using approx 56 different names totaling $593.5K. $388.5K (65.5%) to current & $47K (7.9%) to those who resigned in 2025.

Thankfully I only have to do this a few days this week while kiddo figures out the routine to board the bus to his summer camp from his former school, but I can't use my walker & my husband can't take him at all b/c @CityofMiami intentionally ignores the ADA.
1/3 Not only do disabled & elderly people struggle using public transit in @CityofMiami, the pedestrian infrastructure is a nightmare! Missing & broken sidewalks, most not wide enough for wheelchairs, along with no curb cuts!

Kiddo & I are going to attend one of the Zoom sessions. We doubt they'll actually teach anything useful, though. It sucks that @MayorDaniella & the @MiamiDadeBCC won't allow disabled people access to @IRideMDT b/c the STS contractor pays them to so we can't attend in-person.
Miami-Dade Civics Academy is now open for registration! Free classes in person and on Zoom starting June 23. Learn how local government works and make your voice heard. As part of our Miami-Dade 250 celebration, this is your chance to shape our future.

Data on homelessness is all over the place and not easily tweeted, but this report lists mental health and drug addiction as the *least* likely causes of homelessness. Most likely causes are: foreclosure, domestic violence, lack of affordable housing, unemployment and low wages.
Totally false. There IS a permanent underclass of mentally ill and addicts, but in fact a huge amount of homelessness is composed of ppl who were mid-class or even rich & had several catastrophes happen at once (usually 2 of: divorce, job loss, death, and/or serious illness)

Homeless assistance programs are also heavily encouraging (AKA threatening to stop all assistance) people with no mental illness or addictions to claim they have them b/c they get additional funding for that & have no funding or shelter space if you're homeless due to disability.

Non-disabled people don’t understand how expensive it is to be disabled. The government doesn’t give us everything for free. Medications, hundreds of dollars. Mobility aids could be tens of thousands. Medical equipment, hundreds of thousands. That’s just the necessary stuff.

Campaign treasurer's reports show this to be a lie. @commvickillopez is well known for hiding her funding sources & selling her vote to some of the most despicable people imaginable. We are little more than livestock to her; only to herded & butchered for her & her donors' profit

How it's legal for companies that parents can't trace (LLCs owned by more LLCs that dead end in DE) to pay our elected officials for access to our children? There is absolutely no oversight or vetting in Florida private/charter schools, just electeds selling our kids to randos.

$1.5bn for a highway expansion and still no rapid transit expansion in 14 years. Metrorail still runs every 30 minutes after 8PM M-F and 20 minutes on weekends (30 mins after 9PM). What a joke.
Officially, the Kendall Parkway is dead. The GMX toll board voted today to scrap the original 14-mile plan for an 836 extension to SW 136th St. Too expensive, board said. New plan: 4 mile extension to 8th St. miamiherald.com/news/local/c…

"What made you track political donations?" Both @CityofMiami & @GoMiamiDade have officially stated for nearly a decade that they cannot afford to make public transit & pedestrian infrastructure wheelchair accessible. Below you'll see contributions from their STS contractor.

And that's why I'm currently procrastinating on gathering the campaign treasurer's reports. I already know they're nasty and I would like to be ignorant on the details for just a little bit longer.
CDR Maguire, a govt contractor that worked for Miami-Dade before but doesn't appear to be now, gave $70K to Commish Gilbert's PAC last month ahead of his Congressional run

While doing the ALT text, I made a typo & it autocorrected to "disabled rioters." 😅 I've said almost this exact thing hundreds of times in the last 9 years. Currently, we live within 3 blocks of multiple bus stops, but there is no safe, accessible infrastructure to get there!

Looking for gift suggestions, please! Kiddo's math teacher has been a huge help this school year. She made sure he felt safe & listened to in her classroom & helped him advocate for himself when others were not following his IEP. What is a good math gift for her for ~$20?

He managed to fix it! The only downside is it's not a repair he can do on the go.
He's already asked for zip ties and a screwdriver. Fingers crossed that YouTube University taught him the correct process...

This is actually Brickell, just south of downtown. I legit called this a death trap at one of the meetings. People in the neighborhood (drivers, bike riders, & pedestrians) use the side streets specifically to avoid it. Downtown & nearby neighborhoods have terrible infrastructure
A new roundabout in Downtown Miami (SW 13th St and SW 3rd Ave). Center island is too small. Not enough horizontal deflection at entrances. Traffic still speeds. Probably one of the worst roundabouts I've ever seen.
