Delivering better mental health support for children and young people, with nearly 6 million pupils now supported by Mental Health Support Teams - 800,000 more than last year. This is one of the biggest steps we can take to improve life chances, boost attendance and help every child thrive at school. Here in Peckham, I'm proud that Labour is breaking down barriers to opportunity and giving every child the best start in life.

My interview with ITV discussing the under-16 social media ban. As the conversation around online safety continues, it's vital we balance opportunity, connection, and protection for young people growing up in a digital world.

Glad to stand alongside over 140 other Labour MPs calling on the Foreign Secretary to ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements. 👇🏾👇🏾
Together with almost 140 fellow Labour MPs, I have written to the Foreign Secretary to call for a ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements. Our group includes every Labour select committee chair. It’s time to be clear that settlements have no viable economic future (1/2)

Great piece by @YuanfenYang in the @FT. Well worth a read 👇🏾👇🏾
As an economist, former FT journalist and now Labour MP, l don’t think the bond markets have to fear a change of Labour leadership. The biggest problem for gilt investors and MPs alike is inflation – & it remains our common enemy. My @FT op-ed 👇 (1/5)

Clean homegrown power is the way forward ⚡ With over 1 million jobs already supported by the net zero economy, the case for clean homegrown power has never been clearer. It's the best way to drive growth, attract investment and reduce our reliance on volatile fossil fuel markets.
1/ NEW: The net zero economy is now supporting: ✅Over 1m jobs ✅£105bn in GVA ✅22,000 small businesses This analysis from @CBItweets is a reminder that net zero is a great British success story. And exactly why this Government is doubling down. theguardian.com/environment/…

Empowering local communities 💡 Labour is putting innovation funding into the hands of local leaders, giving regions more control over investment in research, technology and high-skilled jobs. By backing the people who know their areas best, we can unlock growth and opportunity across the country.
More power for local leaders 🤝 more jobs in your area Mayors in parts of England will decide how future investment from the Local Innovation Partnerships Fund is spent in their areas to deliver new businesses and technologies.

Real progress on road safety in London: fewer deaths, safer conditions for people cycling, and hundreds of lives estimated to have been saved through Vision Zero measures since 2015. Creating streets where children and families can move around safely must remain the goal.
Every child should be able to walk or cycle to school safely, but we know many people are put off by safety concerns, poor crossings or inaccessible streets. @TfL’s Walk and Wheel Plan will make streets safer and more accessible for everyday journeys. standard.co.uk/news/london/s…

Great to join @itvpeston this week. Here’s my take on Tony Blair’s much discussed essay 👇🏾👇🏾
“His own analysis… is completely divorced from the reality of what we’re seeing on the ground” Labour MP @Miatsf says Tony Blair’s essay ignores the ‘political question of our time…the pressure on living standards’ #Peston

Is any Labour leadership hopeful able to deliver ‘change’ as quickly as people want it?🌹 And does the cost of living crisis require radical intervention on food and energy prices? 💷 @Peston will ask Labour MP and former government minister @Miatsf later tonight #Peston

Keeping costs down 🚗 Freezing fuel duty will help ease pressure on working people and families already dealing with rising everyday costs.
NEW: We’ve just extended the fuel duty freeze for the rest of the year. This will support millions of drivers and families across the country.

Big win for Peckham 🏘️ The Planning Inspectorate has rejected Berkeley Homes’ plans for the Aylesham Centre after campaigning by residents, traders, local organisations and the @ACAPeckham. This victory belongs to the whole community. We need new homes and investment - but development must work for local people, protect Peckham’s character, and deliver genuine long-term benefit, not just luxury flats. Now the conversation turns to what Peckham needs next.
