.@spencerpratt’s campaign gave voice to real anger in L.A. People are hurting & feel unheard. The Palisades Fire. Homelessness. Politicians would be wise to listen & adjust course. Not mock the pain.

I'm at the rare intersection of: - Was rooting for Pratt - Thought he was good for the LA political conversation - Dislike California's election administration laws and policies - But understand how the process works - Understand that slow results does NOT equal fraud - Frustrated with the conflict entrepreneurs, click farmers, and self-interested politicians who feed the flames

California is the best. But why can't L.A. look more like this? Great vacation to the Central Coast has me considering our challenges here and why we don't aggressively address them. Let's talk about it today (and every day) on @KFIAM640 noon to 3!

The fact that California elections often can't be resolved for weeks is kind of insane and not common in other electoral systems around the world.

This is too bad. ULA disproportionately impacts Downtown LA and our ability to deliver on DTLA 2040 and build a lion share of the multi unit residential housing LA needs. Unfortunate that @cd14losangeles doesn’t see that. Hoping the City Council will have a different perspective.
LA Council Committee reviewing the city's mansion tax/Measure ULA decides NOT to recommend a November ballot measure to make changes. Chair @YsabelJuradoLA says it's too early to evaluate the tax's long-term effects.

You can’t solve a problem you refuse to name. Electeds who know exactly how/why the regional substance abuse/mental health crisis is concentrated in DTLA—& instead sneer at resident’s concerns & blame street furniture—are why nothing changes. Insulting. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/cal…
or maybe social norms can enforce themselves when you design comfortable, dignified, people-centric places for people of all ages and abilities

This really grinds my gears. “Crime is down bc numbers” is a sham to wave away what Angelenos are living through daily. Maybe citywide *averages* look better for specific crimes; that doesn’t mean DTLA, Mac Park, Skid Row, or other dense, diverse communities feel or are safe. 🧵
L.A. is safer than it's been in decades, but crime is an issue dominating the mayor's race latimes.com/california/story…

Let's talk Taix! Tune in to Monks & Merrill on KFI 640-AM at the top of the 1pm hour as we riff on Thursday's Cultural Heritage Commission hearing on salvaging sad scraps of signage before demolition. Should it be an L.A. landmark at all? kfiam640.iheart.com/featured… @MicMonksLA

"Street design changes." This is what it has come to? Don't worry about enforcing the law, just spend more money to change the public infrastructure! The city can't even fill potholes or turn on streetlights but it's going to change street designs? This is not serious government.
Street takeovers have been disrupting Downtown LA, blocking intersections, creating unsafe conditions, and making it harder for people to get home, get to work, or run their businesses. Councilmember Ysabel Jurado is tackling the problem head-on.

I can see Skid Row from my bedroom window. None of these policy proposals ever address key issues: folks who don't want to leave the street; folks who create dangerous environments for businesses, residents, and visitors; and folks who will never live on their own again.
LA's homelessness crisis is a humanitarian disaster - and our response isn't working. I have a plan to fix this.🧵⬇️

"Street medicine teams". Give me a break. How many years are we into this crisis? How many years has Raman been on council? This is not a serious change in strategy where a very serious change in stratgey is needed.
