Michigan is only supposed to pay SNAP benefits to people who live in Michigan. In 2024, Michigan spent $1.6 million across 2,663 cases of out-of-state payments for SNAP benefits. In 2025, it paid $1.9 million across 3,177 cases, and in 2026 through April 5, it has paid $452,986 across 929 cases.
