OH MY GOD YES
The Coliseum field will be painted in a throwback style for Saturday’s game against Nebraska. The endzones will be marked with gold paint, cardinal lettering and a cardinal and white diamond pattern, as well as a gold interlock painted at the 50-yard line.

Yup. Also this is semantics, but think we need to distinguish teams who are worthy & teams who must be in. The word "deserve" could apply to both but they're totally different things. As of this moment, UGA is worthy of being in. Must they be in? Not exactly. "Deserving"? Sure.

If you’re saying a team deserves to be in the CFP, then tell me who you are leaving out.

This applies to Heisman winners too. Was Vince Young worthy of winning the 2005 Heisman? Yes. Would he have been a deserving winner? Sure. Should he have won? No.

According to the NCAA’s report on USC’s rules violations, a special teams analyst -- presumably Ryan Dougherty -- “provided technical and tactical instruction” to a player in spring 2023 and then, in the fall, met with two players who requested his help reviewing film.

Every time I see a “In Loving Memory of” plaque at the zoo, I have to assume that person fell into the exhibit and got mauled. May they rest in peace.

Got so many thoughts. (Most saved for the pod.) Parallels to 2021 in terms of bowl shot, but Moss’s UW game was easily his worst performance of the season. Slovis was more so shut down.
The more I think about it, the more the USC QB change reminds me of Donte Williams turning to Jaxson Dart for the final three games of 2021. A 4-5 team with lots of holes makes a late-season change at the most important position in a desperation attempt to try and make a bowl.

Wonder how much the bye week factors in here. If bye was pre-Rutgers, does LR change then? Hard to say, especially when trying decipher how much of this is because Moss or Maiava. Bc Moss was neither great vs. Maryland, nor benchably bad. Wasn’t objectively poor until UW.

Moss’s lackluster performance against Maryland is “benchable” *if* you have lots of confidence in Maiava. Especially on a short week. Otherwise, he didn’t truly become benchable until Washington, combined with a 4-5 record. At which point, faith/hope in Maiava can be secondary.
