Don't ever use Guest Reservations to book a hotel. On top of the headline price in bold lettering, before you know it they've added
20% for "tax recovery charges", whatever that means, & 40% "service fees ". 60% extra in all. Contemptuous capitalism at its very worst.
Club legend, community champion: Lou Macari awarded MBE in King’s Birthday Honours
“I am absolutely delighted to receive this honour. When people stop to talk to me now they want to talk about the work of the Foundation as well as football, which is nice."

Without doubt, Birmingham New Street is the most confusing station in the country. Whoever designed it should consider another, entirely different, career.
Congratulations to my old C4News and BBC colleague Sue Inglish for her damehood for her work as chair of the trustees of the Disasters Emergency Committee.
We had big family & friends party in Shrewsbury today for the launch of the book Borderlands by my father John Crick, who was 94 last month. It's a collection of his poetry dating back to 1960s & he read a couple of his favourite poems. You'll find copies of Borderlands online.
Dan Jarvis is the second MP for his constituency to be Secretary of State for Defence - his predecessor but one in his seat (previously Barnsley Central, before that Barnsley) was Roy Mason, Defence Secretary 1974-76
This is Adrian Doherty, who would have turned 50 today, described by Sir Alex Ferguson as “the boy with the most amazing football skill, but happiest with his books, poems and guitar.”
And by one of his ex #MUFC youth-team-mates as “Bob Dylan in a No 7 shirt”

Having done a long interview with Andy Burnham last Friday, did Newsnight bid for an interview witjh Rob Kenyon? Did he decline? Is he thinking about it? Newsnight should tell us.

For those of us who were regularly bombarded with Reform op notes for Farage press conferences up and down the country not so long ago, the fact he's now gone 50 days without having one is certainly noteworthy.
And what ever happened to that big name Labour defector he promised?
Later this week it will have been 50 days since @Nigel_Farage last held a press conference.
Given he's had so long to get his story straight, @annaturley is calling on Farage to answer 50 key questions about his secret ÂŁ5 million "gift". It's time he finally came clean.
You must read Ben De Pear's superb, very moving, article about Jon Snow in today's Observer. It tells you so much about Alzheimer's, and about Jon: observer.co.uk/topics/nation…
Makerfield has made the rules about broadcast coverage of
elections and by-elections a complete farce, though nobody seems to agree what the rules are anyway. But giving Burnham big coverage then listing the other contenders is just absurd.
@jonsnowC4 is a lovely, genuine, kind human being. And my admiration for him has grown all the more, if that was possible, because he's decided to talk about his illness. I bet that will help others, just like he helped my old Dad.
The BBC's system for paying outside contributors is incompetent, wasteful & complacent. I've tried for years to get things changed, without success. Easily the worst of the eight or so broadcasting companies I regularly deal with. The new DG should get a grip of it.
