🇯🇵 Taiju Goto, just 17 years old, stormed to 48.31 in the heats of the Japanese Championships, breaking the World U18 Best in the 400m hurdles.
The previous mark of 48.89 had stood since 2002, set by South Africa's L.J. van Zyl.
Goto won his heat against senior athletes, qualified for the final, became the first U18 athlete ever under 48.50, and moved to No. 6 on the world U20 all-time list.

2026… what happened to #indianjavelin @afiindia @Adille1 we had 5-6 guys over 80 m regularly… Sachin threw 86 last year and has a 90 m frame. Kishore (87m) is history… the rest just regular 78-81 m throwers! Neeraj has not competed in 2026! This should be of national interest

92.62 was a perfect throw… only 23… he can gain more strength… technically not much to correct… 5% improvement with more power plus 3-5% more with perfect tail wind… 8-10% more in the him … incredible
With good wind I think he can break the world record … 92.62 in a close stadium… strong wind 5-6 more meters… Rumesh can throw 98-100 m… crazy
