Alan is 68 and he has Alzheimer’s disease. He’s supported by a close-knit group of friends he’s known since school. These long-standing friendships continue to play a meaningful role in his life as he lives with dementia.

We've published the final standards for Ageing and Frailty.
The standards aim to promote positive, healthy and active ageing. They cover older people who may experience frailty as they age and apply in all settings.

63% of deaths from Alzheimer's disease and other dementias occurred within care homes, 22% within hospitals, and 14% at home or another non-institution.
The average age of people dying from these conditions was 87.
66% of the deaths were female and 34% male.
