Does Houston weather absolutely suck in the summer? Yes. Is hurricane season an amazingly shitty thing to have to endure annually? Also yes. But make no mistake: Houston is one of the greatest cities in the world with the best and most affordable housing you can find in the USA, some of the best food in the world, and some of the toughest and kindest people you'll ever come across. Folks in this city get knocked down and then get right back up on their feet time and time again. And bouncing back from Beryl will be no different.
