A massive 60-foot-tall Durga murti is set to be installed on the Hooghly Riverfront in Ramkrishnapur Ghat in Howrah as part of a major tourism and beautification initiative. The project aims to create a new landmark attraction along the Ganga, drawing visitors throughout the year rather than only during Durga Pujo.
The development plan also includes a giant observation wheel, dubbed the "Kolkata Eye", near the riverfront. State officials believe the twin attractions could transform the Howrah Ghat area into a major tourism hub, boost local business activity, and add a new icon to the Kolkata metropolitan skyline.
