This pattern has repeated itself across different eras. As a result, when such parties lose power, many of their leaders recognise that their political survival becomes uncertain, often prompting defections and realignments. Also, I write that as TMC leaders are being arrested, are on the run, and continue to make headlines, it reminds us that the political memory of people is often very short, I write, "One only needs to look back to 2011, when Mamata Banerjee's party stormed to power and immediately unleashed a wave of arrests targeting local-level CPI(M) leaders. A prominent case was that of Lakshman Seth, the former CPI(M) MP widely regarded as the strongman of East Midnapore district, which includes Nandigram - the very battleground where current Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari rose to prominence during the anti-land acquisition movement. After the party's victory, Seth was tracked down by the CID in a Mumbai guesthouse and arrested in March 2012; he spent over 100 days in custody. The announcement by the West Bengal Chief Minister @SuvenduWB and #TapasRoy about bringing back @TataCompanies back to #WestBengal has huge significance for someone like me. I hope #Singur remains their choice. As a young boy from #Chandannagar who saw the with great dismay what the departure of the Tatas meant for the region and the state, this is a welcome development to put it mildly. We were affected the most. People had built hopes and dreams (not to mention how people made investments in businesses in anticipation of Singur becoming one of the major auto hubs in the country). All those dreams came crashing down and the state suffered. As someone who lives in the area, Singur comes under the Chandannagar sub-division, I really hope the Tatas return to Singur. My hope is @swapan55 #TapasRoy and CM @SuvenduWB are successful in making the Tatas return. #PersonalTake

A massive 60-foot-tall Durga murti is set to be installed on the Hooghly Riverfront in Ramkrishnapur Ghat in Howrah as part of a major tourism and beautification initiative. The project aims to create a new landmark attraction along the Ganga, drawing visitors throughout the year rather than only during Durga Pujo. The development plan also includes a giant observation wheel, dubbed the "Kolkata Eye", near the riverfront. State officials believe the twin attractions could transform the Howrah Ghat area into a major tourism hub, boost local business activity, and add a new icon to the Kolkata metropolitan skyline.
