Outstanding for large patches of his Leeds career, also needed to be benched eventually. Hope he finds that previous form elsewhere.

Anyone that has read ‘Football: The People’s Shame’ knows that this is the exact broadcasting model that I suggested (not my idea). This should have been implemented 6 years ago. The PL are as incompetent as they are corrupt.
The Premier League is planning to launch its own “Netflix-style” streaming platform that would broadcast every single game live. The proposed subscription would cost £10 a month and be available across 188 countries. For context, fans currently pay an average of £76 a month if they subscribe to Sky, TNT, and Amazon to watch Premier League football. If it happens, it would be one of the most significant shifts in football broadcasting in decades.

It’s going to be worldwide platform with 200 million plus subscribers - I suspect it will average £10 per month (we’ll pay more).

An absolutely top bloke and I’m proud to say he was also my Year 6 Primary school teacher. He always shook my hand and remembered my name whenever I saw him. RIP
The RFL today pays tribute to John Kear, who died suddenly on Sunday afternoon returning north from Wembley, having been part of the BBC’s commentary team for the Challenge Cup Finals Our thoughts and condolences are with John’s wife Dawn, his family and friends

James Milner retiring means 2026-27 will be the first English top-flight season since 1956-57 that will not feature a single player who played under Sir Bobby Robson.

Competitive football is completely finished. This isn’t European glory - it’s rampant monopolisation. The PL outspends every other major league combined - the ESL is happening in plain sight and us brainwashed consumers just go along with it.
Since the start of the 2024-25 season, Premier League teams have played 20 knockout ties (two-legged rounds and finals) vs non-English opposition across the Europa League and Conference League. They have won all 20 ties.

Supporters need to realise how corrupt and incompetent the PL really are. And actually do something about it.
Exclusive: The Premier League is proposing to allow clubs to negotiate settlements for breaches of its financial rules rather than automatically having to face a disciplinary commission. The plan will be put to a vote at its annual meeting next month. news.sky.com/story/mark-klei…

If Leeds pull this off it could be the signing of the season. He’s pure class. The monopolistic nature of modern football means that so many brilliant players just sit on a bench and lose form. Didn’t work out at Chelsea but class is permanent. MOT

He’s had a bad season but his Ipswich years were incredible. Scored loads in a relegation threatened team. Recency bias for me this lads. He’ll do well next year

Can’t believe people are shocked by this - it’s exactly on script. Football as an institution is geared towards vacuous commercialisation. Same for PL.
Puskás Aréna holds 67,215. Arsenal allocated 16,824 General Admission tickets (25%) It's long been normalised but it should still be called out: only half the tickets in a final going to fans of the competing teams is avaricious, shames football and, simply, just wrong

If he sets up a GofundMe to raise the £2.35M I’ll gladly chip in and rally others to do so as well. No one should go to prison for making the game affordable and accessible to everyone. The only reason he’s going to jail is because he took profits off greedy broadcasters.
🚨🚨| BREAKING: A man who ran an illegal Premier League streaming network has been sentenced to 11 years in 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 and must repay £2.35M within three months or face an extra 10 years. The operation had around 30 staff, 50,000 customers, and made over £7M in five years. [@TheAthleticFC]

43 points for a newly promoted PL club is miraculous. Farke isn’t far off manger of the season. Next season expectations are raised and it could be a tough ride for him but I thought he’d be gone before December - doubters (including me) have been proved very wrong. #MOT

These figures are symptoms of a disease. Yet we’re not addressing the disease. Football is undergoing a period of creative destruction and the time arrives long ago for a switch in the economic philosophy. Hoping you’ll have me on the podcast soon @KieranMaguire to discuss!
Championship total revenues ⬇️ by 2% in 2024/25, but wages ⬆️by 2%, so overall wages 97% of revenue, which doesn't leave much to turn the floodlights on. Since 2010 Championship revenue ⬆️ by 142%, but wages ⬆️by 182%, which highlights again that football does not have a revenue problem, it has a cost control culture problem. As a consequence Championship clubs have lost just over £7 billion since 2010 chasing the Premier League dream. Player sales have helped a bit, but Clubs have mainly had to rely on owner subsidies and benevolence.

What is “home grown”? Is buying a really talented 14yo from god knows where and importing him into your academy classed as home grown? If so - this will just result in more monopolisation throughout academy football. Where you were born - that’s how it should be.
FIFA is considering a proposal which would mandate all clubs to have at least one homegrown player from the under-20 or under-21 category on the pitch at all times. A consultation process with all relevant stakeholders for the proposed obligation has been unanimously approved by the council, world football’s governing body said in a statement, and is set to be submitted to the FIFA Council in the next year. This is almost the exact same regulation I recommended in “Football: The People’s Shame”. I said 2 players (U22) but they should be born in certain hospitals. The politics of the PL completely work against locality/community.
NEW: FIFA's radical plan for every professional club to be obliged to have at least one homegrown u21 player on the pitch at all times. Not one Premier League club has done that this season. thetimes.com/sport/football/…
