Colder months mean more layers for our children and #redjacketpeople Keeping our children layered up adequately enables them to experience Vogrie to it's full potential all year round in all weather. Some of our #redjacketpeople are wearing 5 or 6 layers to ensure they are warm!

The #redjacketpeople were pleased to welcome our learners back today who had a great time zooming into 2025 and testing out our new sledges! With the variety of sledges on offer they tested which was faster and which had room for more people.

Some of our children visited a wind farm after observing the wind turbines and electricity cables running to Vogrie on their journey from home. The #redjacketpeople extended their learning through discussion of types of energy and how we use it. #stem

Recent weather has been providing us with many learning opportunities, from understanding the wind gusts and how to tell when they are coming to looking at the formation of ice on our pond. We then use the met Office appp to discuss the icons and what they mean #redjacketpeople

Continuing exploration of lines, we found we could create different Christmas crafts using straight sticks to make stars, crosses and squares. The winding of wool round, over and through stick shapes allowed our children to practise their fine motor skills. πŸŽ„#redjacketpeople πŸŽ„

Our festive season has been begun with a Christmas story telling and song session with Julie. These sessions are an important part of Vogrie and allow our children to share a little bit of Vogrie magic with their families. #redjacketpeople

Some of the #redjacketpeople have been visiting other settings this week. This has been a great opportunity to share practice, knowledge and ideas as well as building confidence. It has been lovely to meet new children and provide some new learning experiences for them.

Following interest in mushrooms our children were able learn more with Rachel Ranger about how spores work and how they can be released. Having time with our Rangers extends our children's knowledge as well as the #redjacketpeople who can then share this with all children. πŸ„

While the sun shone today some of us explored shadows and learning about the different perspective this provides. We have also been investigating the impact the sun has on frost and how we can observe this throughout the day. #redjacketpeople

We have enjoyed spending time with Rachel Ranger this week exploring the park together and learning about different animals in Vogrie. It is important to the #redjacketpeople that our children are able to gain knowledge from other people within the Vogrie community.

Role modelling support between peers provides caring connections and leadership skills. Our children are encouraged to support each other throughout routines and day to day experiences to share knowledge and to empower each other. #redjacketpeople
