Each spring, the Cahaba River comes alive with one of the Southeast’s most remarkable blooms. The Cahaba lily thrives in swift, sunlit water, anchoring itself to rocks as it blooms in bright white clusters across the river. Photo by Keith Boseman

Does anyone know if a company that will make stream-side rearing tanks for fish? I’m interested in doing some in-situ toxicology trials using river water, but I don’t know where to start. Has anyone designed these themselves? TIA!

The Oregon CRU is leading efforts to understand critical ecosystems like the Nisqually River Delta in Washington. We used 6 years of data to model how weather and sea-level rise affect water temperatures—key info. for salmon that rely on cool water. tinyurl.com/2cnwsvdb

The Mississippi CRU is working with volunteer anglers to build a one-of-a-kind fisheries database. With more fishing apps available for smart phones and other devices, managers can involve many anglers in data collection. tinyurl.com/5z2jwu3m

I installed 250 ft of native pollinator garden around my house last fall. Now during my morning coffee, I get to watch the Monarchs, swallowtails, & many other butterflies as they fuel up during their migrations ☕️ 🦋 🌼 😎
Mid-August marks the start of fall migration for millions of monarchs! Now through mid-November, these butterflies will travel during the day and roost in trees at night. You may see anywhere from a few to hundreds taking a break along the way. 📷 Mike Budd/USFWS

As Leader of the North Carolina Coop Unit, I can attest the model is unchanged. We lead high-impact research for our state agency partner on reservoir fisheries, whitetail deer, black bears, elk restoration, alligators, etc, all while training the next generation of biologists

The crawfish frog is rapidly declining across its range! This unique species lives primarily in upland habitats and relies on crayfish/mammal burrows. We are using radiotelemetry to track the frogs to better understand their habitat requirements. tinyurl.com/43w7vy2w
