This poem is a reminder that every request number in the lab represents a patient waiting for a result that can have a significant impact on their life
Delighted to have a poem published in the summer edition of #Converse magazine. Many thanks to @Hmabarry and @ACSLM1 for including it. The Life Behind is a reminder to #medicalscientists of the importance of our often difficult working life to patients and their families.

Iโ€™ll say it again. My wife is a pediatrician. Iโ€™m an oncologist. For multiple reasons, we will ensure our children are vaccinated against HPV when they are of age. It might not be a perfect panacea but this is our best chance to render cervical cancer vanishingly rare.

All this week we're hosting some work experience students from @GreenheadCol. Hopefully they'll go away knowing a lot more about what we do behind the curtain and maybe want to work in Pathology!

High blood glucose level can cause interference on RBC indices on some of the automatic CBC analyzers, giving falsely increased MCV, falsely low MCHC, while MCH stays normal. Here is an article โžก๏ธncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/72โ€ฆ What's your labs protocol of solving this? #blooducation
