Immigration to Ireland has surged. But while all the focus is on IPA applicants, their arrivals were just one-tenth the inward flow in the Year-to-April 2023. Immigration of non-EU workers on employment permits is twice the flow of IPA applicants. Ukraine is 42k of the 81k.

Huge lack of GP availability in Bray - people can't get appointments. New GP facility opens. 75% of patient sign ups are non-nationals. A month after opening it's closed to new patients and the people of Bray are back to square one. This can't go on. With the best will in the world our infrastructure just can't keep up with this rate of population growth. #irelandisfull m.independent.ie/regionals/w…

“It is not an exaggeration to say that it will be extremely difficult, and perhaps impossible, to maintain a meaningful immigration system should the People accept these amendments.” The decision to withhold these documents from the public before the referendum should bring down the government. The fact that multiple ministers lied about the advice they’d received to try and dupe the electorate is even more egregious. Literal liars who have the temerity to lecture the public about disinformation, who were engaged in a campaign of lies to deceive the Irish people into changing our constitution.

Two years ago immigration would have struggled to break into the top 10 issues for voters. Now it’s the top issue and that’s against a backdrop of smear campaigns orchestrated by various political parties and media orgs against ordinary citizens to try bully them into silence.

This means nothing without cuts in immigration. Net Migration last year was roughly 87k people. Multiply this by 6 years and that’s over 500k people, double the number of homes promised by Simon Harris. The housing crisis would be in no better a state.

Justin Trudeau admitting that despite Canada being incredibly pro-immigration, the levels they have taken in have been too high and have caused significant pressure on their housing sector, which is facing a crisis in Canada’s major cities.
PM Trudeau says immigration to Canada has "grown at a rate far beyond what Canada has been able to absorb," adding that "temporary immigration has caused so much pressure in our communities," in relation to housing #cdnpoli

“For every 1 per cent increase in the natural growth of households since 1990, the UK researchers found a 2 per cent increase in house prices. The same 1-to-2 per cent ratio also applies to immigration – people coming to work here.“

The housing crisis will never go away if politicians pretend our gigantic levels of immigration is not a major variable. Per the CSO, in 2022 we built 29,851 new homes, but the number for inward migration was 89,500. Completely unworkable.

22% of the population of Ireland was born overseas, new figures show - a jump of 132,653 persons on the number recorded in Census 2022. If the trend continues, says MATT TREACY, we’ll have a non-national population of 33% within the next decade. gript.ie/22-of-population-of…

Immigration is the now the dominant issue for voters, it’s even above housing! And as I wrote 5 months ago, if it isn’t addressed by the Government, it could change the face of politics here…. newstalk.com/news/barry-whyt…

When the Irish State has the will, things can change rapidly. The Refugee camp was removed to not ruin Patrick’s weekend. Our asylum policy is entirely a choice, and things don’t have to be this way.

Excrement, urine, an outbreak of disease. A horrifying read on the growing refugee camp in Dublin City. These are the consequences of politicians ignoring hard economic realities due to idealogy. 2/3 of the country think Ireland has taken in too many refugees.

2024 is an election year, with immigration frequently topping the list of voter concerns. The ongoing Tent City is the result of policy choices taken by government. This can be stopped, if a government decides to cap refugees, which is what most people want.

Neale mentions nurses in our hospitals here, and the need for migrants. Ireland was in the top 3 OECD countries for producing the most medical graduates in 2022, and in 2018 it was No. 1. We are one of the best at producing native doctors/nurses, yet this is never mentioned.

The majority of people who made a claim for asylum at Dublin Airport last year arrived with either no or false identity documents.
