A few of you have asked what’s next for me since my exit from Christianity Today. I thought I’d send out a quick note and update you. The truth is… I’m not entirely sure. I have a couple of interesting options opening up, but given the nature of what I do best — long form audio storytelling — it’s a unique role to find the right fit. I do plan on doing some more work at Substack in the near term, and likely far less on social media, where one can rarely articulate fully-formed ideas. I am considering doing some video content for YouTube in the vein of news analysis, pop culture commentary, and historical reflections. I am also in conversations with a couple of friends about possibly launching a news and ideas podcast, and given that these are two extremely brilliant and much-better-credentialed persons than me, I think the idea has promise. Much has to be worked out there (including funding, which is always tricky) but if you’re appreciate my work at all, you’ll love this… should it come together. I’m also still working on a manuscript I hope to finish shortly, and I’m excited to share more about that in the next few months. I’m grateful for the encouragements and prayers. It’s been a surprising and surprisingly difficult few months, going back to last fall and all our family has been through, as well as my exit from CT, and many bumps along the road in between. I would be grateful for your prayers for provision for our family. To that end, two quick comments: First, on a limited and short-term basis, I’m taking on some consulting clients to help them think through and refine their podcast concepts. Also, if any readers might be interested in sponsoring or underwriting or being a patron to a larger a Substack initiative, including this news and ideas podcast, please reach out. I can fill you in in more detail. You can reach me here where my DM’s are open, or at mikecosper.net, where I have a contact page. In the meantime, I’m grateful for your encouragement and support, and I look forward to whatever comes next.

Kenny Wolleson is magnificent too, getting lush sounds of the drums and cymbals, finding the pulse of the thing. It's just about perfect.

Speechless at this one. A wonderful combination of confident declaration and absolute ignorance. 10/10, and all I can do is applaud and pray harder for the meteor to take us all away.
JD Vance: If you go back to WW2 or every major conflict in human history, they all ended with some kind of negotiation.
Community note
World War II ended with unconditional surrenders by Germany on May 8, 1945, and Japan on September 2, 1945, rather than negotiation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconditi… archives.gov/milestone-docu… nationalww2museum.org/war/topics/end…

This is a sexual assault—unknowingly captured by a mom filming her daughter’s wrestling match. Kallie didn’t know her opponent was male. But she knew something was very wrong. Today @ADFLegal helped Kallie sue the WA officials who placed gender ideology above her safety. 🧵⬇️

Saw the Black Crowes tonight in Cincy. My goodness, they sounded fantastic. Chris was in peak form, played all the great songs, seemed like everyone was having fun on stage. I've always loved other songs — WIser Time, Sometimes Salvation, Soul Singing — more than She Talks to Angels, but tonight, that one got me.

Internal Hamas documents indicate that World Vision’s former Gaza director DID work for Hamas. Evidence indicates that World Vision funds were funneled to Hamas over several years. This is why our family stopped donating to World Vision... more details: archive.ph/sMP6O
Interesting. @ChuckGrassley is investigating @WorldVision's terror ties AFTER a Senate report found WV did not properly vet an organization it gave money, which had ties to terrorism AND its former Gaza zonal manager was convicted of funneling $50 million to Hamas. /1

As Rich Plass has said for decades, the most powerful tool in ministry is our transformed and transforming presence.
Steven Bartlett, host of the podcast, The Diary of a CEO, released an interview with Christian apologist, John Lennox, this week, and his closing comments to him were fascinating: "One of the most compelling arguments for God that you've presented (and your way of seeing the world and being) is not actually necessarily anything you've written in your books or not not necessarily anything you've said. It is actually you. You have a certain peace and contentment that I rarely see in people that I interview, but I often see, and I've almost always seen, in the Christians that I've interviewed, and this is a interesting phenomenon for me...it seems to be a trend that a lot of the Christian apologists that I've interviewed have that anchoring that so many of us are looking for." What a great witness. Link to interview below

America!
This guy turned every single text his HOA president sent him into a song. Over the past year and a half, she’s been texting him nonstop about fines, videos he’s posting, eggs in the yard, signs on his lawn, his driveway, and even threatening to put a lien on his house. So instead of arguing with her, he had AI turn all her messages into a full song. It’s honestly one of the most creative ways I’ve seen someone get back at an over-the-top HOA. Be honest… would you turn your HOA president’s texts into a song?

Goodness, this Colts Era... they could turn it on and just EXPLODE. Peyton, Harrison, Edge, Wayne, Stokely.
Throwback to the 2004 Colts-Chargers classic, where Peyton Manning broke what was then the NFL single-season TD pass record and Indy capped it with a wild comeback win in OT. RCA Dome chaos at its absolute peak.

I don’t even know what to say about this one, though, because she literally did show after show talking about how Trump DIDN’T cheat on Melania and how Stormy clearly lied etc. She is now not just moving from “it doesn’t matter” to “yes it does” but from “it didn’t happen to yes it did and it matters and I’m amazing for calling it out.” These people are all so so so much worse than Trump himself to me. No self-respect. No inner core.
I love how MAGA apologists who ignored or even celebrated Trump’s character flaws now suddenly discover them and pretend to be brave truth tellers. When it would have cost them, they happily promoted the cult. Now they’re like “oh my God it’s a cult! Why can’t you see it?!”

There is no one more morally clear-eyed and articulate than Haviv. \
Every word. Foreigners need to stop patronizing Israelis with their tired, broken slogans. Start listening to the lessons they have learned through hard, bloodstained experience. Give us that respect.

About once a year, maybe once every two years, a document I'm working on in Microsoft Word just straight-up evaporates. No backups. nothing. Just gone. Maybe user error. Maybe ghosts in the machine. Maybe gremlins. but it definitely makes me want to scream.

Uhhhh... I agree here with Ed Young Jr. Hey @EdYoung Thanks for naming this. Also thanks for baptizing me when I was a kid and you were still at Second Baptist. (I'm not joking — I was like 9 or 10 and you baptized me back in the day.)
Mr. President, it’s time to say “I was wrong”…

You know what's effeminate? Refusing to sit down and answer hard questions.
Effeminate and heretical are requirements in most worship departments, unfortunately not mine

I know you won't reply, because — going back to my original reply to your attack on me — you're a coward, and you can't handle a hard conversation or a difficult question. So run back to the desert where no one knows your past and pretend it doesn't exist. Or man up and talk.

For real, @PastorMark — let's go. Let's talk. Let's air it out. What did I get wrong? What did you get wrong? Where did you change your views? What makes me a progressive? (I promise youl'll be sorely disappointed on this one — I bet I'm more of a conservative than you politically.) Where did I get you wrong in my podcast? What did I misrepresent? Let's have a conversation. I'll release the full unedited audio. Let's go dude. Come on. Don't be scared. I'm just a lispy effeminate podcaster — why would you run away from me?

Time and place @PastorMark — As I've said many times, I'll bring the microphones. You think I'm effeminate? Let's talk about it. You think I'm a heretic? Let's talk about it. I have a few questions for you too, btw. So let's do this.
