Aug 1, 1978 - Gene Garber had earlier struck out Pete Rose to end the 44 game hit streak. We were at the ATL Fulton Co stadium ramp hopeful for autographs. Pete exited, riding in front passenger seat of a car driven by Ted Turner!

R.I.P., Ted Turner. Philanthropist, swashbuckling businessman, visionary iconoclast, firebrand owner, charismatic individual. Helluva dude. The world needs more like him. To say he helped make Atlanta and the Braves what they are would be a colossal understatement.

3/3 …just in time to get hit in the shoulder by my friend’s pass. He turned, picked up the ball and threw it back to me. That man was Ted Turner and he had a pretty good arm! Was always impressed with his creativity and fierce leadership. Prayers extended for his family today 🙏🏻
