Sports in Kansas Preseason 🏀Player to Watch: Val Norwood, Wellington, was last seasons 2024 Sports in Kansas 4A Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Norwood, a senior that will play at Division I Lindenwood next year, had a big-time junior year in which she averaged 16 points per game, five assists, four steals and nearly five rebounds per game. One of the most complete point guards in the state, she helped her team to the best finish in school history by taking second in 4A. Norwood was also her leagues Defensive Player of the Year and the MVP of Orange and Black Tournament. Norwood is back with her entire team this year for what should be another standout season for 2024 Sports in Kansas 4A Coach of the Year Eric Adams as they took second in 4A for 2023-2024. Norwood was the leading scorer at last years 4A state tournament with 24.3 points per game, 73 total points through three tournament games. She scored 13 more points than anyone else at the 2024 4A state tournament. Norwood returns with fellow SIK 4A all state first teamer Britt Zeka (FHSU commit) & second team all state pick Lyndi Barton plus several other talented players that include multiple sport standout sophomore and state track champion Dru Zeka. #sportsinkansas
