“That was trust.”
For Hero Week, @MilFireDept HEO Jermaine “JP” Perry shared what went through his mind during last year’s Mother’s Day fire rescue — and the trust he had in his team.
Chief @alipski1 explains why firefighters like JP stand out beyond just training.
In just over 24 hours, @MilFireDept worked at 6 structure fires (including a 2-alarm & 5-alarm), 8 auto fires (4 on the east side), & 3 rubbish/dumpster/grass fires. These numbers do NOT include false alarms, burnt food, or other nuisance calls.
Be advised, W. Hampton Avenue (N. 32nd Street to N. 34th Street) will be closed in both directions due to the collapse hazard following the 5-alarm fire at 4777 N. 32d Street. We are working with the Department of Neighborhood Services & other agencies to expedite a solution.
1 shift. 24 calls. 3 cardiac arrests. All 3 resuscitated.
Congratulations to @MilFireDept Engine 24 on receiving @MKE_OEM Distinguished Dedication Service Award during #EMSWeek2026.
An extraordinary example of clinical excellence, teamwork, resilience, and unwavering commitment to those we serve.
Grateful for the thousands of EMS clinicians serving Milwaukee County every day.

Hear about @MilFireDept response for the 4-story apartment fire on Saturday at 2615 S. Greeley Street? Hear about the civilians needing rescue or hanging from upper floor windows? No? You likely won't. ONE activated sprinkler head eliminated the need for all of that. @NFSAorg
