I had a Mammogram appointment today, and in the 20 or so minutes I spent in the waiting room I made an observation that is honestly not surprising in terms of the demographic of patients (read women), but worrying nevertheless:
- 8 white women, 1 Indian and 2 Black women (myself included)
- I estimate all to be in their late 50s-70s.
I know there's plenty contributing factors here, with the 2 key ones being accessible to information and access to medical care for our people.
With that said, for those that do have the privilege of both, asiyeni bafazi.
If you are over 40 please make that appointment and just go. It's uncomfortable and somewhat embarrassing even, maar it can save your life.
It' our turn bagazi.
