🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨 Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, using fear, urgency, and even spoofed phone numbers to convince victims to send money or share personal information. If someone calls claiming to be a police officer, government official, consulate representative, or detective, and demands immediate action, take a moment to pause and verify the information independently. 🚩 Common Red Flags: • Threats of arrest or legal action • Demands for immediate payment • Requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers • Instructions to keep the call secret • Pressure to remain on the phone 🛡️ Protect Yourself: ✔ Hang up and verify the caller through an official phone number ✔ Never send money to someone who contacts you unexpectedly ✔ Never share personal, banking, or account information ✔ Talk to a trusted friend or family member before taking action Remember: Legitimate law enforcement agencies and government organizations will not demand payment over the phone to avoid arrest or prosecution. STOP • VERIFY • REPORT If you believe you've been targeted by a scam, contact your local law enforcement agency and report the incident. #BeMilpitasPD #MilpitasPD #ScamAlert #FraudPrevention #CommunitySafety #ScamAwareness #StaySafeMilpitas

🚨 A quick getaway attempt came to an end. 🚨 Last Wednesday, around 3:20 PM, officers responded to a robbery at the Great Mall after the victim reported that a suspect forcibly grabbed a gold chain from their neck and fled the scene. Officers quickly arrived in 2 minutes and 22 seconds and immediately spotted the suspect running from the area. A brief foot pursuit followed, ending with the suspect being taken into custody without incident. The 17-year-old from San Jose was booked into Juvenile Hall for robbery and resisting arrest. The stolen chain was recovered and returned to the victim. From the moment the 911 call was received to the suspect’s arrest, our dispatchers and officers worked together seamlessly to bring the incident to a swift resolution. Their rapid communication, coordination, and teamwork led to the suspect being taken into custody within minutes, the victim’s property being recovered, and the continued safety of our community. 🚨 Stolen Firearm Recovered During Early Morning Contact 🚨 Yesterday, around 1:17 AM, a midnight shift officer was conducting patrol checks near the 1250-Block of Great Mall Drive and contacted two individuals sitting in a vehicle who were unfamiliar with the area. During the investigation, officers determined the male occupant, a 23-year-old Sacramento resident, was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for a prior violent offense. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a stolen Glock 19 that had been reported stolen to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, along with two loaded magazines. The 23-year-old male and a 20-year-old Elk Grove resident were both arrested and booked into jail on firearm-related charges and possession of stolen property. The recovery of this stolen firearm helped remove a dangerous weapon from our streets and prevented it from potentially being used in future criminal activity. Great work by our midnight officers for their vigilance and commitment to keeping our community safe. 👏🚔 #BeMilpitasPD #MilpitasPD #CommunitySafety #IllegalFirearms #KeepingMilpitasSafe

🚔 A mail thief thought they got away but our detectives had other plans. Earlier this month, Milpitas Police officers responded to a report of a subject breaking into a mailroom near the 1800-Block of S. Milpitas Blvd. Thanks to surveillance footage, collaborative investigative follow-up, and the persistence of our detectives, a 44-year-old from San Jose was identified and a felony warrant was obtained for her arrest. Last week, detectives served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and recovered stolen mail, driver licenses, identification cards, an embosser, fraudulent documents, and drug-related paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested on multiple fraud, identity theft, and drug-related charges and was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. This case is a great reminder that even small pieces of evidence can make a big difference. If you believe you’ve been the victim of mail or package theft, please report it. Security camera footage, photos, or witness information can provide valuable leads that help us identify suspects and recover stolen property. 📞 To report a crime, contact the Milpitas Police Department at (408) 586-2400. 📞 To remain anonymous, call our Crime Tip Hotline at (408) 586-2500. #BeMilpitasPD #MilpitasPD #MailTheft #CrimePrevention #CommunityPartnership
