Milton Friedman on how âsocial justiceâ destroys a society:
âIf I have a philosophy that everything belongs to societyâif something happens to me, thatâs not my fault, thatâs because society did it to meâthen the whole concept of property loses its role.â
âWhy shouldnât I steal? Why shouldnât I destroy property? After all, itâs nobodyâs. It belongs to everybody, so it belongs to nobody.â
âMoreover, if I happened to be in a lower-income group, or a deprived social group, or a discriminated-against racial group, thatâs the malevolence of other people. Itâs not my fault, and I have every right to get back at them.â
