The type of bleaching cream I’m talking about isn’t the popular Caro White, but there are definitely some out there that cost a lot of money. Years back, I went to a skincare shop and told the owner I wanted a new body cream, though I didn’t have a specific brand in mind. Looking at my complexion, he suggested one he claimed would match my skin perfectly. I agreed, and since it cost about 13,000 Naira, I assumed it was high quality because of the price. I’ve always took pride in taking care of my skin… I started using it, and within three weeks, I thought I was seeing positive results. I looked fresh, and people kept asking what I was using.. funny enough, I didn’t even know the name of it. By week six, however, I was starting to look like Michael Jackson after his first surgery. Then the dark knuckles appeared. I’ve always hated that look on people, I used to be the one judging those who used bleaching creams, and suddenly, I was becoming exactly what I disliked. It was so annoying, I couldn't let my skin end up looking like boli (roasted plantain). I realized the cream was doing more harm than good, so I stopped immediately and switched to Nivea . I’ve stuck with it ever since, and seeing my knuckles return to my original skin tone makes me really happy.
